Pakistan tennis players blame PCB for deprivation of other sports in the country

It was claimed by a senior tennis administrator, that the PCB or the Pakistan Cricket Board should help the tennis federation of the country, out of the critical financial situation.

Pakistan's tennis celebrity Khawaja Saeed Hai emphasized that the cricket board with its affluent sources, should provide a helping hand to other deprived sports. He also stresses on the responsibility of PCB to make Pakistan a no-go zone for the sportsmen who are on a visit. Hai later confronted in an interview that the Pakistan Cricket Board is responsible for such a degraded position of other sports in the country and as a result sports like tennis is suffering much. The senior Vice president of the country's tennis federation added that, the much remembered terrorist attack in March 2009 on the Sri Lankan cricket team turned out to be bizarrely fatal for the country's sports.

Hai portrayed his annoyance towards PCB commenting that, because of their negligence towards sec urity; sportsmen from over the globe have stared fearing the thought of playing in Pakistan. He also added that the PCB could not live up to their security promises which affected the fate of other international sports like Tennis in the country pretty adversely.

Following the infamous incident of the terrorist attack in Lahore, where quite a few Sri Lankan players were gravely injured, foreign players refused to come back to Pakistan. This has influenced the country's sports in a pretty bad way. The famous tennis star also emphasized that out of all sports, tennis has been most pathetically influenced by that incident.

Things were taking good shape for Pakistan's tennis before the Lahore attack. But since that incident, tennis has taken quite a back seat, with international players fearing to come down to Pakistan and play. Unfortunately because of such issues pertaining to security of players, Pakistan was compelled to surrender their hosting righ ts in The Davis Cup, three times in a row. In stead they had to fly all the way to New Zealand to participate in their 'home' tie where they had to face a defeat in the tournament semifinals.

Hai confronted that, the team could have easily won the tie if it had been played in their home ground. He said that PTF had almost gone bankrupt while sending the tennis team all the way to New Zealand where as they could have earned in millions by hosting the game themselves.
