Getting Ready For The Goose Hunting Early Season

If you plan on hunting goose in the early season you should scout in order to find out which zones the birds prefer to rest in and which areas have the crucial food sources needed before the season begins. If you plan on hunting on water be sure to check which of the surroundings wet waters have water in them and which of these wet areas the geese use for resting.

If you are going to hunt on land don't forget to check the nearby fields in order to find out what crops are growing in them. You must keep in mind that farmers usually rotate their crops, for example last year corn, this year beans, rice or wheat the next year so it is highly recommended to know in advance which of the fields have the right crops.

If you plan on hunting geese always remember to choose a feeding area as these locations are very populated, remember to ask for permission from the landowner so you won't have any unpleasant surprises. If unfortunately the feeding area has been already leased to someone else or the owner won't allow anyone to hunt on his land it is advisable to get the nearest available land. The closer the spot is to the feeding area, the better.

Due to the fact that goose hunting as well as duck hunting is getting more and more popular, it is getting harder and harder to find an available place to hunt ( especially for goose ). If you are aware of a goose feeding area we recommend that you secure hunting rights to it long before the season starts. You might consider helping the owner with some work around the place or by dropping a few birds every time you leave the area in order to obtain exclusive rights.

Unfortunately, some times the only way to do is to lease the land. If the price is too high and you can't afford it the advisable thing to do is to get a few friends and secure a lease. If you gather a large number of hunters every year, then we recommend a longer-term lease. A few things that you can do in order to obtain exclusive rights is to write a leas request, a few birds as a present or a gift certificate for dinner for the owners of the land might do the trick.

Once you have obtained exclusive rights to the land be sure to place " No Hunting " signs if the landowner allows you. In order to maintain a good relationship with the owner, make sure you close all the gates, pick up all the shotgun shells, don't leave any garbage laying around. Be sure not to leave blinds or decoys in the field where they may get damaged by the farm equipment or worse, the decoys/blinds might wreck the farm equipment and we are certain that you wouldn't like that to happen.

All in all, make sure you finish all the arrangements long before the season starts so you won't have any unpleasant surprises. Take things step by step and we assure you that your hunting days will be both exciting and fruitful.

Summary: There are a lot of things a hunter must do before the goose hunting season starts. In this article we go through some of these issues every hunter has to deal with before the hunting season starts.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hunting With A Dog

Hunting along with a dog is a rather controversial sport these days and there are some dogs better at it than other, some dogs are better "at" a specific type of hunting than others, that is why hunting with a dog is a popular sport among hunting enthusiasts. There aren't any specific groups registered in the American Kennel Club ( AKC ) for hunting alone other than the hounds which are known to have an ancestral background in their lineage in the hunting domain.

These traits vary from dog to dog: some have a very developed scenting ability while others have very good stamina and so on. Some of the most famous hounds would be the: Beagle, Norwegian Elkhound, American Foxhound, Black And Tan Coonhound and others as well. The widely known AKC Sporting Group is a rather large group of hunting dogs for those hunters that enjoy hunting along with a dog in a woody or watery environment. Some of the dogs that belong to this group would be the: American Water Spaniel, Golden Retriever, English Cocker Spaniel, German Shorthaired Pointer and others as well.

Moving on to the interesting part, the exciting aspect about the above mentioned dogs ( and the rest of them, of course ) is that each breed has its own natural behavior. Hunting along with one of these dogs will surely improve your hunting efficiency but choosing the most appropriate type of dog is crucial as some dogs excel at fox hunting for example while other are best to be used for squirrel hunting. The terriers were originally developed for hunting small games and killing vermin and if you plan on hunting squirrels for example, a working terrier is the best way to do it. The hunting dogs are most recommended for any type of hunting as they will prove their efficiency if properly trained.

The main disadvantage regarding hunting dogs is that the training procedure is rather complex and might not show up the expected results when hunting for the first time with the dog. Regarding the aspect of training a hunting dog, it is also a matter of time because training a dog properly for hunting purposes can take up to one year and in some cases you will have only one chance to do it because some mistakes are irreversible. An example of an irreversible mistake would be the lack of early socialization. We recommend that you do a little bit of research before choosing your hunting dog ( keeping in mind the type of game you are going to use the dog at ), start the training from an early age and things should go smoothly.

All things considered, hunting along with a dog has its advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of using a dog is that if the dog was properly trained from an early age, the chances of catching more animals is higher as this dogs will do some of the work for you. The main disadvantage would be that the entire training process takes some time and every dog is different in its own way so there is no such thing as a standard training procedure applicable for all breeds.

Summary: Hunting with a dog can be a very exciting and entertaining experience but training a dog for hunting takes a lot of time and practice in order to do it properly.

The never-ending growth of the Price Per Head trend

The Price Per Head concept is causing a big fuzz in the sports betting industry. Here's why it is getting so popular lately

So, let's face it. Sports are always dragging people into betting. Sports gambling tendencies get constantly renewed with different strategies for each person's needs and preferences. There are thousands of Online Sportsbooks out there with different features and promotions. However, one of the most interesting sportsbook trends that have been developed is the Price Per Head concept, which has been gaining popularity through the years.

With so many options in the sportsbook betting industry, why are Price Per Head shops growing so fast?

Price Per Head (or PPH) changed the idea of small bettors that addressed their picks to a sports betting agent or Bookie. Everybody thought this kind of "underground" sports betting business was going down with the birth of online sports betting. How could the bookies in town reach the level of advantages offered by "post-up" online sportsbooks? They probably didn't have all it took to build a nice online sportsbook by themselves, and their betting clients wanted to count on technology to make everything faster. It seemed it was the end of the familiar Bookies that everybody called to place their bets.

When PPH shops appeared on the market, they fixed the problem for sports betting agents. What a Pay Per Head shop does is to offer the agents the possibility to create an offshore sportsbook business through a Price Per Head software. This software provides the posibility to have some sort of online sports betting website for their clients to bet, without having to get rid of the Bookie.

So, where is the big difference between a Price Per Head sportsbook and a regular one? It is, of course, the sports betting agent. While any other sportsbook online would make bettors place their money against the company, with Price Per Head the Bookie is still in charge of dealing with the money won and lost by the players. Many people interested in online gambling prefer to stick to the bookie, who is usually a person they trust, instead of placing their money to play against a sportsbook they don't really know. The magic on the Price Per Head concept is that they just provide the bookie software, giving the sports betting lines, making a Price Per Head call center available and taking the bets, but they don't take money out of what the players are betting. The only profit received by the PPH shops is the amount that has to be paid by the agent for each client that places their bets.

When a player has a Pay Per Head agent in charge of his sports betting activity, at least he knows who he has to talk to if something goes wrong with his winnings. It's the safest strategy when it comes to taking care of the betting money. And it doesn't mean the bettor has to stick to the old-fashioned method of calling the bookie and hoping he reminds to write down the bets. And every single day, there are agents and players that seem to realize the benefits of this new sports betting trend.

Homemade Carp and Catfish Baits - How to Make Them Instantly Attractive!

* Many thoughts exist on making baits and so many ideas and opinions contradict each other. So how to find the truth about what really works?!

Well, for example, in creating recipes for an instantly attractive carp or catfish bait, (these very often work for both species) people argue over ingredients, and how baits actually trigger that crucial fish feeding response.

A good sign when designing your homemade bait is that it instantly attracts the attention of a wide range of species. This might be great if you want to target all these others, but your bait might be attracting 'bait fish' around your hook bait that will attract the much bigger predatory, or curious catfish, or carp.

Such baits vary from just 2 ingredients and a flavour, to the most advanced produced by fish nutritionists and biochemists. But for each extreme, there are ideas and principles common to each, so let's start by looking at what makes a 'simple bait':

To begin with, the simplest baits often utilize cheaper bulk ingredients as basic as wheat or corn flour, with a 'high energy value' but a low protein content.

Such baits may seem easy to distinguish from the 'balanced nutritional profile' protein based baits, but things overlap: Each type works and seems to contradict each other's theory of why they should work at all!

And perhaps the key is less to do with the effort and energy cost to the carp, of eating your bait, versus its bio - energy reward for doing so. But more to do with exploiting methods of initial feeding response stimulation and initial bait small, taste and palatability. For example, we all know that food that is very nutritious can be repellent because of its strong taste or smell; some people hate fish, or garlic, or certain vegetables...

So what are the theoretical origins of carp baits made from 'humble' low protein and economical 'carbohydrate' ingredients, after all, we all know sweet corn is one of the greatest carp baits of all time, even catching a British record or two, but is primarily a sweet low protein carbohydrate food?

Traditionally the best known low protein flavor attractor 'commercial bait' (used world wide) is probably is Rich worth's or Rod Hutchinson's 'Tutti Fruiti' flavor / boilie. Fish love certain alcohols / combinations far more than others and a cheap semolina / soya flour base mix were ideal to carry this attractor label, and work anywhere.

However, flavors were originally used in baits to change their TASTE, when catch results achieved on the low nutrition baits were slowing down, and NOT because flavors actually worked as attractors in their own right! (Although they have evolved to become so today.)

There are still many cheaper flavors, sold as 'carp attractors' that are really only 'labels' for your base mix, and do not have much in them that will trigger carp into feeding on your bait! Carp can be fooled for quite a while though; A very successful UK angler (Andy Little) who was the first to land thirty 30 pound carp in a season, did this: he began catching by feeding a high nutritional value bait into the lake (SAVAY), and as time and catches grew, his bait ran out.

So, he put the same flavor label (strawberry?) in a cheaper, low protein, high carbohydrate base mix, and he continued to catch successfully for some time. The carp had associated the flavor 'label' with nutritional benefit, and were fooled into carrying on eating the new bait - despite its lack of food nutrition benefits!

This category of basic dry mix consists mainly of high carbohydrate ingredients which also roll and bind together easily. A basic combination of 50 / 50 % semolina flour and soya flour is the most commonly used base, although this has often added nutritional factors added like vitamins and minerals, cheap fishmeal, an amino acid source like corn steep liquor for added attraction etc.

These baits are often highly coloured with 'fluorescent' edible dyes to get carp to see them more quickly and easily, black, pink and white and background contrasting colors are often ones I've done well on when I've made these baits.

You have to ask how carp see these colors in water at different light intensities, of day / night, water clarity etc, and to come to your own conclusions. White seems good as anything, and I've caught plenty of good carp on this.

Other ingredients are added to give a 'variety' or initial difference to the bait, as a carbohydrate bait can 'blow' very quickly compared to high nutrition baits on some water, for example a difficult, low stock density, high natural food / exceptionally high water quality lake. It can take much work in pre - baiting for example, to keep ahead of the carp's natural wariness having been caught on these baits, and even to get them to eat such baits initially!..

You can change your bait characteristics; type of attractors, color, rate of attraction leak - off, 'crunch factor', etc. Instant attractor baits are often highly coloured and 'over - flavored' with sometimes with natural juice incorporated flavors; solvent based flavors (e.g., acetates and similar groups of chemicals), or alcohol and oil based flavors for example, and attractive extracts like that of fermented fish /shellfish.

Changing the flavors, especially of 'non solvent' based ones, can keep the bait working purely on the basis of flavor attraction. (Some say these baits work by 'simulating' the carp's natural food signals, ionizing the area of water around the bait but there is far more to this and it is a very advanced area to really begin to understand.)

Cheaper ingredients, like ground cereals or bean derived flours and meals, make this style of bait cost effective, simple, and very quick to produce. Years ago I used to soak my baits in a mixture of pure ethyl alcohol flavors, oil based flavor extracts and liquid 'Robin Red' extract. The main cost was flavors and added attractors and they keep working when changed regularly although I always use a liquid protein source as a bait soak / and in the bait as I have found carp caught by doing this are often much bigger!!

I recall the first time I experimented with overloading baits with 'raw' undiluted flavors around 1980... I caught all night, trebling my catch rate at that time. But I used this bait only over 6 weeks, as 90 % of the carp were smaller ones 6 pounds to 16 pounds. Very nice catches despite this.

I tried this approach on a giant water in the south of France (Lac Du Salagou) about 15 years ago. I hooked a fish only 15 minutes after arriving. It was gigantic too, and emptied my reel, snapped the line, leaving my friends laughing, in a mixture of amazed shock and jealous relief that I did not land it!!! I'd gradually stripped off down to my underpants and waded out 30 yards to chest deep water too! (I wonder if the video they took of the action still exists - eh Mr Grimes!?) I still wonder about that fish....

Please be warned: Be aware that highly flavored instant attractor type baits can badly 'backfire on you' and actually be extremely repellant to many big carp on some waters, owing to high pH factors etc, and also where it has been used on a water, by many anglers, for quite some time.

The biggest, most wary of fish can be terrified of over flavoured baits and even the average artificially flavored bait simply because it recognizes that signal as related to danger! You may wonder why you almost never even hook a bigger fish on such a bait at certain waters. Remember, the aim of the bait is to get a carp to pick up the bait as confidently as possible, as this gives the greatest chance of obtain a solid hook hold!

I took a quality milk protein and wheat germ bait to the famous 'Rainbow Lake' in France, and made a terrible mistake by putting the recommended synthetic flavor in it, instead of leaving it out completely! This bait produced NO takes at all, and I ended up catching fish around 50 pounds on other bait with no flavor instead!...

The Japanese and American scientists have both proven that carp instinctively prefer a protein instead for a Carbohydrate based food.

In one of a series of similar tests producing similar results, a carp diet was supplemented with a carbohydrate food. The carp regularly ate this food for only one week before stopping. This particular food was ignored for a total of 26 weeks, but when a protein based food was then offered, it was eaten immediately!

The Japanese probably lead the world in knowledge of carp nutrition and carp attractors, with over a thousand years of history in carp breeding, testing and so on.

I've read that in many tests carp are induced into feeding less nutritional food, by adding PLANT EXTRACTS and NOT SYNTHETIC CHEMICAL FLAVORS. For example, I've seen fenugreek extract used, and this is a component of the extremely successful commercially produced 'maple' flavor. You must assume that these scientists are at the top of this whole game, so if they're using it in tests as a carp feeding trigger it probably great to use in bait!

I also got the impression reading about the writings of the famous milk protein bait pioneer, Fred Wilton, that these baits were EQUALLY as effective or perhaps even MORE so, when synthetic flavours were NOT used in them! (So give it a go!)

Once, about 16 years ago, I was catching some good carp using very successful instant attractor baits, when the carp started head and shouldering, 'en mass', straight out of my swim, without returning; someone had just put out a large quantity of his own secret 'High Nutritional Value' bait (based on anchovy and sardine fishmeal), and the carp had shown their preference immediately! This taught me a BIG lesson about the advantages of really understanding essential carp nutrition in bait and how carp feeding behaviour can be manipulated by using the right bait at the right time on a particular water!!!

In some circumstances where there is sufficient baits of nutritional quality, fish mass population / density/ competition with other species / natural food supply etc, low protein carbohydrate baits can still continue to be effective, and consistently catch almost all the fish in a lake: The key seems to be in, if enough large quantities of a particular bait are introduced, and the attractors, e.g., chemical flavour labels are changed regularly enough, then they will continue to be successful.

One outstanding example of this happening on a water where quality protein and balanced nutritional profile baits had been used for many years there, was at the famous UK water; Darenth. In one season most of the waters biggest carp were landed on a carbohydrate bait based on full fat semolina and soya flour.

It may seem surprising, but then perhaps the fish treated it as a low energy cost food source as over 1 tonne was put in and it was used consistently by the majority of the anglers on fishing the at that time! Only when the anglers' fashions changed and they tried other types of baits in large quantities did this trend in results on 'instant baits' reduce.

They do work well however and on a bait of a similar design, the old French "Rainbow Lake" record carp of 76 pounds was landed in 2006.

There are increasingly more countries and waters where 'carp bait selectivity' is now a common occurrence owing to intensive fishing pressure on carp; they can eat foods selectively while ignoring or preferring certain baits above others!

Worldwide carp do seem to literally eat almost anything used as bait. Overall, however, the majority of the heaviest carp caught in the UK seem to be caught on nutritionally based baits, but questions still arise concerning those captures by 'instant attractor baits' and why they can 'trip - up' many of the biggest carp at times... after all, carp are only conditioned by anglers and THEIR habits and preferences!

The author has many more fishing and bait 'edges' up his sleeve. Every single one can have a huge impact on catches.

By Tim Richardson.

Making Homemade Carp Baits - Successful Mixing, Rolling and Binding Ingredients and Methods

* Making your own secret catfish or carp baits is exciting and fun! It can result in catches you only ever dreamt of!

But many fishermen resist making their own baits. Unfortunately, they give up before they have even started. This is due to having been given the false impression that it's to complicated, and that it's only for expert fishermen, when the reverse is true!

In fact, when you make good homemade baits, you can catch loads more fish than other anglers of your experience level. Now you can learn so much more, faster, because of your improved catch rate that you soon become 'an expert' yourself!

The discouraged anglers are often doomed to a lifetime of missing out on many extraordinary catches and peak fishing experiences, because they rigidly stick to shop baits that are already known to catch fish. They do not fully appreciate that bait's main advantage is that it has not been used yet, and has not hooked all the big fish in advance of the majority using it.

Using a particular shop bought baits is like entering a race, where you generally only get the best from them, when they are used for the first time on a water and where the fish do not associate them with danger yet.

After they have been used for a while successfully, results become standard for everyone using them again, and only the very most talented anglers will still achieve outstanding catches on them, as they will again have lost that competitive edge of being new and different.

There is also that unique sense of joy and satisfaction at catching a personal best fish or perhaps lake record fish, on a bait you personally have designed and made yourself. This is something that makes for some very special moments in your personal archive of special fishing memories!

* Making and mixing dry dough baits and boilies:

(There's more great information for more experienced anglers later in this article, so please bear this in mind!)

To make things much easier for everyone, let's start by using a 'standardized starting measure'. Often it's easiest to bring a combination of dry flours, meals and ground materials together, to form one dry powder mixture. You can then add this to eggs or water, to make dough bait, paste bait, or so-called 'boilie' baits.

Boiled baits are most often small round dough bait balls, with eggs included. When these dough baits are dropped into boiling water for a minute or two, then a tough resistant skin is created around each bait, and this helps them last much longer on the hook, or on the specialist carp 'hair rig'.

This is a short line loop (attached to your hook) of perhaps half an inch in length. A boilie bait is slid onto this loop, using a special baiting needle. The bait is held in place using a small piece of grooved plastic or rubber to hold it in place. Such baits can effectively last on this rig for over 24 hours in the water, if necessary.

A typical homemade 'dry ingredients base mixture', is usually divided into 1 pound weights or 16 ounces. (Approximately 500 grammes.) By doing this you can design your bait by listing it's ingredients in individual ounces. You can use your fishing scales and a plastic bag to help you do this!

You may prefer to use kilograms, as your 'reference weight' if you are making very large amounts of bait. Either way, this makes everything else easy, because you always know how much water, or eggs, or actual ingredients of which type you have put into your mix.

It is very important to make notes of each ingredient and the amounts used in your bait base mixes. Also any liquid attractors like flavours, amounts of eggs used too, as this will save you much head scratching, and unnecessary mistakes later. Making detailed records is the key to successful bait making and makes everything easy!

A simple but effective beginner's dry 'base mix' for example, is the following:

* 6 ounces of ground-up trout or salmon pellets or fish meal powder.

* 5 ounces of Semolina or ground rice flour.

* 5 ounces of ground-up soya beans (or flour.)

Start by placing your dry ingredients into a big strong polythene bag; it may be quicker and easier to mix up perhaps 6 to 10 pounds of powders at a time. (3 to 5 kilograms). Blow some air into the bag and tie up the top securely. Shake the contents very well until the powders flow and have mixed thoroughly and the mixture is an even color.

You can weigh out 1 pound or 1 kilogram batches of powders, and put these into sealed labelled individual bags for storage, for later use. It's a good idea to weigh out a 1 pound of powders and put this into a container that holds approximately this amount.

This means that from now on every time you make bait you can quickly just fill that can with any new base mix powder and you know you will have about a 1 pound dry mix to start with; to add to your liquid ingredients and eggs, etc.

* Mixing your bait:

Put some powders into a large bowl or pan, e.g. one pound of dry mix, crack 4 to 6 hen eggs into another large bowl and add your other liquid ingredients to them. (Some may require accurate measuring using a needle-less syringe.)

Examples of additives to put in at this stage might include sweeteners, liquid molasses, squid extract, sweet garlic oil, liquid amino acid compound, liquid betaine, flavor components, honey, yeast extract, anise extract etc.

Beat these very well until the consistency and color are even.

I tend to over flavour with an alcohol based flavour if I'm making baits to be fished as purely lone 'attractor baits' with no free offerings being used.

Add the dry powders, small amounts at a time, until the mixture forms a moldable dough. (It's sometimes good to leave the mix in a sealed bag somewhere cool for 2 to 3 hours, and even leave the 'soaking' paste dough in the fridge overnight. This allows the liquids to penetrate into even the least soluble ingredients and really helps bait performance by maximizing its water soluble liquid attraction!)

By weighing any dry mix in a bowl, you can find the weight of dry mix required for each further 4 to 6 egg mix. Please note that every base mix you design is different and needs refining for the best mixing, rolling, digestibility, attraction, and water solubility ratios and properties you require for your particular fishing circumstances!

Roll the dough (like in bread making) to release air. You have many choices at this stage, like perhaps use a rolling pin to flatten the dough on a bread board, and then cut your dough into many odd shaped pieces. (A very quick bait making method, and a proven one for excellent catches!)

Or perhaps squeeze small pieces into dense blobs, or roll dough into sausages and create cylinder shaped pellets or flat cylinder shapes, or flat discs. (Ideal for weed and silt etc). Or chop dough into pieces and hand roll them into balls of varied sizes. (And even chop these pieces in half for another alternative shape!) A little vegetable oil on your palms will help if your baits are sticky.

I aim to create baits that will really look, act and feel different to the regimented commercial baits that the majority of anglers slavishly use predominantly these days; doing this is well worthwhile; how many carp don't see perfectly round shaped boilies these days and don't know how to avoid the hook where these are used most frequently?

Never forget that we anglers are training the carp to danger when we really need to keep re-educating them into thinking what we are offering them is safe! Well at least until they've been hooked!)

Prepared paste will ideally feel like a moldable bread dough without being sticky, this is very quick and easy to make boilies with minimum trouble, mess and time!

Try placing sausages into an empty, very clean mastic gun with the end nozzle cut to a diameter of e.g. 15 millimeters, and extrude smaller sausages to put onto a bait rolling table (a dual half round grooved device that chops and rolls simultaneously producing many round baits very fast!

I like to roll out sausages of various diameter and boil these, chopping them up when dry. I also make molded hook baits between thumb and forefinger, some with specially added cork granules to make them buoyant.

Put on a large pan of boiling water (when boiling I add sweeteners like molasses, honey, brown sugar, black treacle, and liquorice extract and sea salt. This really gives your boiled baits 'different' extra attraction despite having the usual firm skin).

I will often spike my hook baits or cut pieces off them to ensure their surface releases attractors much faster and can also absorb bait soaks more efficient. This really produces noticeably faster too at times. I've even caught fish to mid twenty pounds 'on the drop' straight after casting the bait in the water.

Put some bait into a sieve or chip fryer, and boil the baits for up to an average time of 90 seconds. (The less the better to retain the nutritional qualities of your bait.) Don't forget that with using alcohol based flavors, these are boiling away into the air as vapors with every second!

Milk proteins should have the minimum boiling, or you'll reduce their nutritional attraction and benefits, by damaging various amino acids in the proteins, (some much more than others!)

Smaller baits can take less time than e.g. 18 millimeter ones. Whatever you do, remove them from the boiling water the moment they start floating.

Lay the skinned baits to dry on cloths on wooden fruit boxes or cardboard boxes or bread trays and keep turning them over to dry and cool evenly. Leave them to dry, usually from a few hours in warm room temperatures to 3 days or more depending how hard or dry you want them!

As they dry, your finished boiles will shrink and harden and absorb any strong smells or odors nearby, so ensure you dry them in a clean environment away from chemicals, paint, cleaning products etc that may be left around inadvertently and may taint your baits with fish repellent fumes!

To preserve your baits there are many preservatives to mix with your dry bait mix before mixing, many are great for winter baits as they replace eggs which could affect results in colder water temperatures.

Put, for example, a pound of finished boilies into individually marked freezer bags, with the date and mix and attractors or flavors clearly written. Or carry on drying them until they're 95 % plus dry, and store them in air-drying net bags, paper potato bags or similar, somewhere dry, away from rodents!

I like to put about 30 to 60 milliliters of natural attractors additives and amino acid compound with boilies into freezer bags before freezing and shake the baits to distribute them. This can more than double your catch rate! For winter, try adding a favorite 'raw' undiluted flavour, like "Tutti Fruitti," "Scopex," and "Megaspice" etc.

For waters with excessive bait robbing fish or crayfish for example, use higher levels of casein in your dedicated hook bait mix, and after boiling and drying, leave your baits in a sealed container full of sugar. This is a very effective way to harden your baits and make them effectively last much longer!

To calculate the finished weight of prepared boilies from eggs and dry mix in advance of production, the eggs, (usually large hen's eggs) are 30 to 40 % (average) the weight of the finished bait per pound.

To make my baits different from many shop - bought, uniform shaped, machine rolled boiled baits, I boil my baits over a various range of times, e.g. short 10 to 90 seconds (with nutritional baits) up to 5 minutes with carbohydrate baits with overloaded attractors.

For a useful quick bait tip for short range hand thrown or catapulted baits for example, or in a bait delivery 'spod' cast out at range, use dough rolled flat and chopped finely into bait pieces. I even leave portions of this procedure un-boiled as paste pieces, to be used as free baits, and in water soluble polyvinyl alcohol ('P.V.A.') bags, and dry these separately.

This gives baits of varied size, shape, consistency, texture and density, allowing for much greater attraction to carp, making it very much more difficult to detect the hook bait. This is very worthwhile and many of my biggest fish have come through using these types of techniques!

* Floating or 'pop-up' boilies:

As you are rolling all your paste into balls before boiling, put aside, e.g. 50, for buoyant hook baits. They can be great fished on their own over weed or silt, or as a 'snowman' when used on the hair or hook with a normal sinking boilie.

You can incorporate cork or small balls of polystyrene into these or even use a high amount of cork granules in a dedicated base mix, to adjust the amount of buoyancy you want. These are available from the commercial companies. The advantage with these is that your hook baits are identical in nutritional make-up and signal leak - off to your 'free' or ground baits.

Another method is to put a small number of smaller, normal baits on a plate, and microwave them in time increments of, e.g. 20 seconds, removing them before they begin to burn. These are soaked in attractors before use, to maximize attraction.

Another method is to adjust the level of ingredients until you arrive at a floating test bait. I've also had this happen by accident, and not design while experimenting with more buoyant ingredients like sodium caseinate, shrimp and krill meals, even some egg biscuit based bird foods, for example.

I use casein as the base with sodium caseinate and then other ingredients, as this offers great nutritional signals, while being a harder more resilient bait. You can buy 'pop-up' base mixes from many commercial suppliers. These baits are best left to soak in a mixture of natural attractive extracts and flavours, with an added amino acid compound for example, to harden and preserve the baits and maximize their carp attraction qualities.

Such baits fished just on their own on hard fished waters can be very productive, especially casting immediately to carp seen bubbling or 'rolling, and 'head and shouldering'!

* Floating carp baits:

The easiest method of mass producing personalized, random shaped nutritional floating bait for carp fishing is:

Make your base mix as normal but with much more buoyant ingredient, like 6 ounces per pound of sodium caseinate. Add 2 extra eggs per pound dry mix (with bicarbonate of soda to put more air bubbles into it to help it float), leaving the mix more liquid than solid. Whisk the mix, and pour into a baking tray, and cook in the oven until risen and just brown on top.

A good trick is to use a high level of ground - up dog or cat food biscuits in your floater cake. These baits work well especially on waters where carp regularly eat these biscuits as free baits from anglers, and have become wise to eating biscuits as hook baits, having been caught or hooked previously.

Such big fish are usually much more difficult to hook on the biscuits themselves as bait, even though all 'free' biscuits may be eaten confidently, your hook baits may be rejected, which can be very frustrating! I have had newly designed, 'cake' style floating base mix baits taken immediately by carp that you might never hook in open water on ordinary dog biscuits.

This type of bait is a 'forgotten gem!' It seems obvious from this that any bait that is out of the normal range of baits your carp most often associate with anglers or danger, will be able to produce superior results to the most frequently and over used ones. (These are usually shop bought style baits!)

So, why not give bait making a go; you really can have your 'cake' and eat it!

The author has many more fishing and bait 'edges' up his sleeve. Every single one can have a huge impact on catches.

NASCAR Tracks: Daytona International Speedway

The Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida is home to some of the most significant NASCAR races there are. It is a 2.5-mile track and can seat 168,000 fans. Other racing associations share the track too so it is not exclusively a NASCAR facility. It is home to the race most Americans know because it has been around for so long: The Daytona 500. NASCAR sponsors this event as the NEXTEL Cup - Daytona 500 - "The Great American Race."

In 2008, the 50th Annual NEXTEL Cup Daytona 500 race will be held. The NASCAR Daytona 500 is a 500-mile race that consists of 200 laps. This race will begin the NASCAR season on February 17th. The winner of the Daytona 500 gets awarded the Harley J. Earl Trophy. Harley J. Earl was an automobile designer who served as the second NASCAR commissioner. The Harley J. Earl Trophy will be plated in gold instead of silver for the 2008 race.

The NASCAR Daytona 500 has a unique qualifying procedure. The top 35 teams from the previous year's competition are automatically qualified to compete in the current Daytona 500 race at the Daytona International Speedway. There are 150-mile qualifying races held one week before the big race and the two top drivers from the qualifications will be added to the 35. Other top qualifiers will fill the remaining spots to 43 and previous NASCAR champions without a spot will be given priority.

The Daytona International Speedway has seen its share of exciting victories throughout its history. For example, take the Daytona 500 victory in 1976 where David Pearson just barely beat out the King of Racing Richard Petty. The two actually wrecked on their dart for the finish and both cars went into spins. Richard Petty's car stalled out when it went into the infield. Pearson managed to get his car over the finish line at 30 mph. All this excitement happened just 20 yards from the finish line.

The Daytona 500 has had its share of tragedies. In 2001 Dale Earnhardt was killed in a crash on the last turn of the last lap of the race. Dale Earnhardt had won at this track 34 times.

It was suspected that some car modifications allowing drivers to break faster caused this and they were discontinued in the rules after this fatal race. The modifications made the cars more aerodynamic and allowed more cars to take the lead during a race. The idea was to inject more excitement into NASCAR racing at the Daytona International Speedway as well as other tracks.

Since this Daytona 500 race at the NASCAR Datyona International Speedway is so popular, there is an entire website dedicated to it: www.daytona500.com. It has streaming video on it from prior races.

The Daytona 500 made news with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. getting the number 88 for his car in the upcoming 50th race. The number 88 is significant in NASCAR because it was the same number used in earlier years by his grandfather Ralph Earnhardt. But that is not the only link that makes the number 88 significant. The number 88 has a long list of drivers who have displayed the number to include Bobbie Allison, Donnie Allison, Fireball Roberts, and Darrell Waltrip to name a few. The number 88 has been recorded in 65 wins and is ranked as number 9 in the all-time most winning numbers.

A Brief History of Darts: From Weapon to International Sport

We know that dart-like items have been used for hunting and warfare by early man, and indeed even today some tribes in South America, Africa and Asia continue to use blow darts for hunting purposes. However, in terms of the modern game of darts, the early history seems to have evolved from a game called "Puff and Dart", where players took turns to fire a small sharpened dart at a paper or cork target.

Puff and Dart became a popular game in English inns, through history records an unfortunate incident of a man who sucked rather than blew - inhaling the dart into his body, and then dying a few days later. It's not known whether this affected the popularity of Puff and Dart, but we do know that the game is no longer around today.

The next chapter in the history of Darts begins in the late 1870s, when the game "Dart and Target" (also known as Dartelle) appeared. Here, crude darts fashioned from dowel, with a pin stuck to one end and paper flights to the other, where thrown by hand into a piece of softwood board. In 1904, Dart and Target became one of several "Lawful Games on Licensed Premises", and around 1925, brewers noticed the popularity of the game; and in response, they started to organise Dart and Target leagues.

The game received a huge publicity boost when the King and Queen of England visited a social club in Slough and casually took part in ad-hoc darts game, and in doing so "made the women of Britain darts-conscious" according to The Sunday Chronicle. The number of darts playing pubs went on to triple in the next two years.

Darts' appeal to the general public piqued in the 80s and early 90s when the UK TV show 'Bullseye' aired. 'Bullseye' was a game show based around darts where contestants were paired with professional darts players, and also had to answer general knowledge questions themselves. The prizes ranged from kitchen appliances to holidays, cars, caravans and speedboats.

Since then, darts has spread across the UK and the rest of the world. It is even said that there are more pubs with dart boards in the centre of New York than there are in the centre of London. The popularity of darts has led to big international competitions and big prize money. The 2008 World Darts Championship will be held in Alexandra Palace in London, and fans wanting to see the top names in darts will find hotels in Kings Cross and Finsbury Park are conveniently located close to the event.

Though there have been some questions raised in Britain as to whether the presence of offensive weapons in a place full of drunk people is really a sensible idea, darts remains a popular game in pubs all around the world, and international competition continues to attract thousands of fans.

Backpacking water purification tip

Water purification by boiling works fine. Just boil for a minute or two and you are usually okay. The problem is that it is just too much trouble for backpacking. Do you want to stop several times daily to set up your stove and boil enough water to fill your water bottles? Do you want to always need a good fire to do the same, or to carry the extra fuel for that stove?

For regular use, there are just two convenient ways to purify water when backpacking. They are water filters and chemical water treatments.

There are more water filters than I can keep track of out there. Some have ceramic filter cores, some use other materials. Some add a carbon filter to improve taste. Some combine chemical treatment with filtering. Pore size is another feature you'll see advertised, with some saying they will filter down to .3 microns. How do you choose?

- They weigh too much. Many weigh a pound or more, and even more after the first time you use them, because of the water trapped inside.

- They are complicated. Many require assembly
- They are expensive. I'm not just talking about the initial cost of the device
- They don't work as promised.
- They are a hassle.
- They can break.
Despite all these problems, you may need a good water filter for water purification.

- Light weight. Try for 12 ounces or less.
- Easy to use. Ask others about their water filters.
- Tough. Does the pump handle look or feel like it will break when you pump it?
- Easy to find replacement filters. Don't buy model closeouts that won't have filters available.
- Low cost per gallon of treated water. Divide the cost of a filter by the number of gallons it is good for. This may matter more than the initial cost of the device if you plan to use it much. I think that more than 60 cents per gallon of treated water is too much.More backing tips

London 2012 Olympics: The Games Go Green

Though of course the Olympics games are a celebration of sportsmanship, human achievement and international community, they also represent an opportunity to show off the organisational skills and vision of the host nation. London's Olympic committee have recently revealed their plans to make London 2012 the first sustainable games, which they hope will set new standards for all future Olympics events.

2012 will therefore provide a platform for the organisers to demonstrate excellence in the way that the Games are planned and staged, and also the Olympic legacy that they will create, which has the power to inspire changes in behaviour across the world.

In light of the ever growing concerns of human impact on our fragile planet, London has put sustainability at the heart of its Olympic plans. Throughout the entire biding process, the London committee pushed its concept of a "One Planet Olympics" - an idea derived from the WWF/Bioregional mandate of "One Planet Living".

As the Olympics are the highest profile event in the world, the Games will give London the perfect chance to demonstrate how we can change the way in which we build, work and travel to fit within the resources available. Indeed, if the entire world population were to live the same lifestyle as the people of the UK, we would need thee planets' worth of natural resources to support us.

The 2012 sustainable policy sets out to light its green beacon in a number of ways; from the ground up, efforts are being made to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and also create facilities that are able to cope with the impacts of climate change. There will also be a commitment to minimising construction waste, and planners have announced that no waste produced during the Games will go to landfill; instead there will be on-site recycling and re-use of waste.

The Games also have a strong biodiversity policy involving the creation of new habitats on and around Olympic buildings, and policies stating that impact on the Lower Leah Valley and other Games venues will be minimised.

The other big advantage that organisers are pushing is economic development; the Olympics will have a massive positive effect on the Lea Valley area, boosting regeneration in the East End, as well as providing massive income for hotels in London and the UK tourist industry as a whole.

Whether the 2012 Games will turn out to be as green as the Olympics committee propose is yet to be seen, but if they can pull off their ambitious environmentally friendly plans, the impact is likely to have a huge positive influence not just on future games, but on the Western world in general.

The River Thames Frost Fair: Through the Ice Ages

For modern day Londoners, it's hard to believe that a river as mighty as the Thames could ever be ground to a halt by freezing over. However, historic accounts and paintings teach us that at one time the Thames regularly froze over - producing ice that was thick enough to support not just the weight of people, but of an elephant!

The climate during this period was known as the 'little ice age' which meant much colder winters, but it was also the fact that the Thames was wider and shallower and therefore flowed more slowly that led to it icing over on a regular basis. The Old London Bridge also slowed the flow of the river as it was supported on many closely spaced piers, taking on the properties of a leaky dam.

This harsh, cold weather often deprived many London tradesman of their usual work; the ice was a disaster for river traders as the ports came to a standstill, and many commodities became scarce. The more enterprising of those hard-up workers realised that the freezing of the Thames attracted a great many visitors who came to witness the spectacle, which gave them the idea to set up booths and stalls selling coffee, beers and souvenirs, leading to the first official Frost Fair in 1608.

The fairs quickly grew in size and notoriety, with all manner of winter activities taking place such as ice skating, ice bowling and sledging, as well as playing host to other events that were popular at the time such as fox hunting and bear baiting.

The fairs would attract huge numbers of people, including those from outside the city, who would flock to public houses and hotels in London to join the winter fun. John Evelyn, a writer who cast considerable light on the art, culture and politics of London during the 1600s, wrote one of the most colourful descriptions of the Thames Frost Fair. He wrote:

"Coaches plied from Westminster to the Temple, and from several other stairs too and fro, as in the streets, sleds, sliding with skates, bull-baiting, horse and coach races, puppet plays and interludes, cooks, tippling and other lewd places, so that it seemed to be a bacchanalian triumph, or carnival on the water."

The Frost Fairs were often short lived and became shorter and shorter as the climate grew milder; the demolishing of the old London Bridge also increased the flow of the Thames and further reduced the likelihood of a freeze over.

On the 1st of February 1814, the final ever frost fair began. It was to last just 4 days, during which an elephant was led across the river below Blackfriars Bridge - the last time such a spectacle was ever seen on the Thames.

It's now been almost 200 years since the Thames has froze over, but in 2002 the city of London decided to celebrate the history of the Thames Frost Fairs by setting up the Bankside Frost Fair. It may not offer much in the way of Thames ice, but it's still the coolest and largest free winter event in London, so why not visit the capital this winter and remember the days when Londoners took to the ice.

Recreational Running - How to start and improve your recreational running

Recreational running as the name suggests is leisure or fun running. Though running has been around for as long as the humans have existed, recreational running has become more common in today's world. Where as some people have made recreational running part of their lifestyles most of them have still yet to get started. Knowing the benefits of recreational running is a vital part in making the decision whether to pursue it or not. Before we look at how to get started with recreational running, here are some of the main benefits:

 • Promotes healthy lifestyle, helps in losing extra body weight
 • Reduces life related stresses and brain fatigue
 • Refreshes and relaxes the mind hence the whole body
 • Improves the general body strength, endurance, power and stamina by building muscle
 • Can lead to competitive running sometimes
 • Boosts the immunity of the body (most people who engage in recreational running rarely get sick)
 • Great form of entertainment

These are just a few of the benefits, but the next question is how can someone with no prior experience start recreational running? Here are some of the helpful tips to help you get started and continue to make it part of your lifestyle:

1. Do your physicals: - Seek medical advice from your physician to make sure that your health status can allow you to pursue recreational running. It is especially important for people who are overweight to consult with their physician to ensure that they are physically able to run or jog without over stressing their body systems.

2. Find a trainer or coach: - Once you have been cleared by your physician, you need to sit down with your trainer or personal instructor who will advise you accordingly. With the help of your trainer or coach, set some realistic goals. Your trainer can help you decide on the right training shoe and tracksuit. Remember to start slow, it is really tempting to put too much on your plate the first time and not be able to get started. Most people get discouraged early in the process as a result of taking too many steps at one time. One step at a time is all you need and before you know, one step becomes a mile and a mile eventually becomes a couple of miles each day. Your goals should not become an obsession; but rather they should just be motivating factors. Remember recreational running should be fun and entertaining not a job.

3. Join recreational running friends, groups or clubs: Unlike other recreational sports such as indoor games, recreational running is more challenging physically and mentally. Having other people with similar or same interests around is significant for progress. This is especially important for support when the going becomes more challenging. It is also easier to achieve your goals if you treat recreational running as a social activity, after all you are having fun with friends. If for some reason you can't find others to run or jog with, you can always take your dog for company, he/she will really enjoy doing that and it is great for his/her health too.

4. Participate in fun competitive races: One good goal to include in recreational running is to compete on fun road running. This is a great motivator for both beginners and experienced recreational runners alike. Running or jogging and finishing a 5 K, 10K, half marathon fun race is a wonderful experience that only the competitor is able to explain. There is something special about running with hundreds or thousands of other runners. By this point, recreational running will have become part of your live.

5. Take breaks to recover: I am sure you trainer or coach is knowledgeable enough to include breaks in your training program. The body needs to recover in order for it to make any progress. The principle behind improving your performance in any sport whether recreational or professional is "recovery and adaptation". The simple explanation of this principle is, training stresses the body, but recovery enables it to recover and adapt to the new level of stress. So the more you train the better you become as long as you recover and do everything else right. Ideally, you can rest 1 - 3 days every week depending on your level of training and your goals. It is also significant to take a complete rest once every few months and do something else like swimming, playing tennis or anything else you enjoy doing other than recreational running.

Other key points to take into account for successful recreational running include:

· Eating healthy: always stay on top of healthy balance diet. It will only help your progress if you eat right, you don't have to worry about counting calories.

· Hydrate always: Remember almost 75 percent of our bodies are made up of fluids. It is always healthy to drink as much water as possible. This can be supplemented with sports drinks or 100 percent juices. Avoid drinking carbonated drinks if you can, they only help to dehydrate your body.

· Supplements are vital: Mineral and vitamin supplements are crucial for your body's well being especially when you are involved in recreational sport of any kind.

This is not an exhaustive guide to recreational running but it is a good starting place. There are numerous resources to find more information online. Start recreational running today and enjoy a new fulfilling healthy lifestyle.

NASCAR Hall of Fame

The NASCAR Hall of Fame was designated to be built in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 6, 2006 and groundbreaking began in 2007. It is projected to be opened for visitors in 2010. The Hall of Fame will be a welcome asset for tourism in Charlotte plus create jobs for the locals. It will have an office building that will house the business operations of marketing the NASCAR image and licensing. The NASCAR Hall of Fame has also adopted the words "Racing was built here Racing belongs here" as its slogan.

Besides being a very modern building that captures the spirit of racing, the NASCAR Hall of Fame has as its first mission to pick the first inductees. There are some unofficial Hall of Fame sites where people are taking polls and we'll take a look at some of the popular drivers getting voted for.

Lee Petty

Lee Petty had 54 victories and is the father of Richard Petty. He raced during the 1950s an 1960s when NASCAR really began to take off. His home state is also that of the NASCAR Hall of Fame: North Carolina. He was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, and elected to the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame.

Richard Petty

He is getting a lot of votes at unofficial NASCAR Hall of Fame sites and it is to no surprise. Richard Petty has 200 wins and 7 championship titles. He and Dale Earnhardt are the only two drivers in NASCAR history to have 7 championship titles. Richard Petty was dubbed the title of the "King of Racing." He is the son of Lee Petty who was also a championship NASCAR driver.

Bobby Allison

Here is another well-known name is racing. He has 84 victories with 3 Daytona 500 championships.

Cale Yarborough

Cale Yarborough has 83 victories plus he's famous as being the only driver to win 3 straight championships. He is ranked 5th in the All-time NASCAR winner's list. He has also been the winner of the Daytona 500 four times.

Bobby Isaac

Bobby Isaac had to leave a race in 1977 because of heat exhaustion. During the time they were treating him he had a heart attack and died. In his short life of 45 years, he would achieve 37 victories. He would also set 28 world land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah (outside of the NASCAR competition). He would eventually be named as one of 50 of the all-time great NASCAR drivers. He is also a 1979 inductee of the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame.

There are other NASCAR driver greats being considered including Buck Backer, Clay Earls, Tim Flock, and Junior Johnson.

Charlotte, North Carolina is a perfect location for the NASCAR Hall of Fame because there are over 50 teams of the Busch, Craftsman Truck, and Nextel Cup Series Championship competition all in close proximity to Charlotte. And Charlotte was the home of the first premier NASCAR race in 1949. That's why they say racing started in Charlotte and should remain in Charlotte.

Learn How to Buy a Home at an Auction

A house or a property comes to an auction center when the owner of the house is unable to sell the property or the house, and the property has been taken back by the lender in foreclosure. The owner of the house can either be a builder or an individual; so he can sell the home either by a real estate investor or with a help of an auction company.

The most important task that you need to do when you're planning to buy an auction property, is that you need to investigate and do some research! If the property is a single property that went into foreclosure, try to get some information about the house. Try to know about the house's size, what are the basic facilities does the house have, was there any previous owner and who owned it. The most important part you need to know is the opening bid. You may even cross check with local title company or with the county's recorder for list of houses which are currently in foreclosure. Before you buy the property or the house, you must know the property's value; therefore you have to compare the sale prices of two such similar properties in that particular locality. In order to predict the property's value, try comparing houses which are within 3 miles of the house which is been auctioned. Try to find what kinds of amenities does the house have; such as number of bathrooms, bedrooms, parking area, fireplaces, swimming pool, etc. This will help you to know about the value of the property.

Keep yourself financially ready, at property auctions you might need to deposit a minimum of at least $1000 to maximum of $5000. You may pay the remaining amount when you buy the house. You should always know to keep your price limit. People at auction are known to create excitement and agitations, so more the crowd, the more likely the price to increase! Keep yourself stuck to the price which you have targeted and don't get carried away. You have to be prepared to just walk away if you think the property or the price doesn't satisfy you. If you feel if there is a bidding war among the bidders then try to stay away, as your bid will only shoot up the tension. So once the bidders have dropped out you may slowly get in.

How to select your first guitar

Buying your first electric guitar can seem like a pretty daunting experience. Having no doubt admired many an axe-wielder, the obvious idea would be to buy the same guitar as one of your heroes. The problem with that is the equally obvious issue of money. Unless you're willing to spend several thousand pounds on a plank of wood you can barely play, a few helpful hints can ensure that you buy the right guitar to suit your needs, skill level and budget.

The right type of guitar will depend on the style of music you are most likely to play. For example, if heavy metal is your thing, a semi-hollow body guitar, like the Gibson ES-355, made popular in recent times by such luminaries as Noel Gallagher, will probably not be what you're looking for. For the right style, see what kind of guitars your main influences are playing and see if there are cheaper versions available.

When it comes to the price you're willing to pay, there must be some leeway. A cheap guitar might be within your budget, but if the wood, pick-ups and frets are substandard, it will lessen your incentive to keep playing. That's not to say your first guitar should cost a fortune, but even spending £100 more could significantly improve the quality of guitars available. The same can be said for the shape of the guitar, although the most aesthetically-appealing guitars might not always be the best-sounding. The key is to always try the guitar before buying, even if you can't really play anything, be it in a guitar shop or from a private seller. The sound and feel of playing the guitar should feel right before you part with any of your money.

Every electric guitar needs an amplifier, so unless you're buying a guitar and amplifier together as part of a deal, you should try several ones to find the right one for you. As a general rule of thumb, always try playing through the amplifier with your guitar or one similar to your own. The amplifier might sound fantastic with a top-of-the range PRS Custom guitar, but that might not be the case with your Squier Strat.

Even though several guitarists, from Jimmy Page to Matt Bellamy of Muse, have been mainly self-taught, it is still worthwhile taking a few lessons to learn the rudimentary workings of a guitar. A look through online classifieds will allow you to see quickly and easily if there are guitar teachers in your local area. In addition, there are several online resources to further your training, where you can learn guitar chords and find transcriptions of your favourite songs. Certain software packages, such as Tab Editor can play transcriptions of songs as MIDI files, with notation to teach you how to play the song in real-time. This is great for when you're starting out, but be beware of relying too much on these packages, as figuring out songs for yourself is needed to develop your musical ear.

At the end of the day, the most important thing about progressing as a guitarist is, unsurprisingly, to keep practicing. It can seem frustrating to not be able to play your favourite songs straight away, but with tenacity and the right equipment you can reach far further than may seem apparent at first. Rock on.

How to Dominate PvP

"They live in a world based on rules" tells Morpheus to Neo. A statement has never been truer for that of gamers; some rise above the rules or fundamentals of the game, while others sit idly by, accepting the game mechanics and virtual world at face value. When one begins to question the world, in this case virtual world, they live in, you begin to see there are ways to become better, faster, and smarter, than the program ever truly intentioned. Are you ready to free your mind and become the PvP Lord you were meant to be? Take the Red Pill with me now.

The game you play is not of much importance but the principles to follow are timeless. Keep in mind we are not playing for fun as the end goal, we are playing to win, but the fun will come indirectly from being the best. With feelings set aside, choose the best "skill based" PvPer the video game has to offer. Usually melee or warrior types (Dexers) aren't the best since their world is based on rules. You must pick a skill based class that takes time to refine; this can be either a pure caster, or some form of hybrid. The point here is knowing all the strengths and weaknesses of yourself and your opponent.

To master and manipulate the PvP you must have a great understanding of the physical world around you. Once you understand how to move to avoid hits, whether side to side, up and down, or left and right rapidly, you can successfully dodge more attacks. In 3d games this becomes even more effective as time/spatial relations rely most on reaction time and those that understand when and why a hit will land.

After you mastered the physical movement, understanding combinations is the next step. You must approach your game as if it were Mortal Kombat. Even though you might not be jump kicking you still are unconsciously utilizing combinations, whether they are good or bad. If a player has casted a DOT (Damage Over Time) spell, chances are the opponent will attempt to cure it. This leaves him open for a Direct Damage Spell, or perhaps a Melee attack. Whatever the combination, understand this; PvP is a big Math equation/ IF then Statement wrapped in graphics. Once you understand that if you DOT (A) someone, they will do (B) cure. When someone begins to cast a spell on you, you must condition your body and mind to immediately cast your counter spell without hesitation. A player that doesn't understand delayed damage stacking with direct damage will never truly become a PvPer and always fall victim to a more seasoned comboer.

So you now realize you need those fast combinations, some dealing large amounts of damage, but your fingers aren't fast enough. This is where setting up Macros comes in to play. The newbies of the world will rely on the rules that are preset; they will not realize you can setup multiple hotkeys to trigger other hotkeys. Utilizing the F1-F12 keys, plus the buttons on a mouse, one can instantly call upon the correct answer to the Math equation that is PvP.

Now at this point you can maneuver around flawlessly in your environment and you have a great understanding of spell combinations and delays. The next step is to develop muscle memory. Through repetitive use muscle memory will allow you to make the correct decision and hit the correct hotkey every time through repetition. Here, and only at this step can you begin dueling others, preferably friends or guild mates, to fine tune your reaction time.

At first you will be clumsy, you will forget your hotkeys, you will forget to heal, you will forget combinations, and yes you will lose to the less talented warrior. But their world is based on rules, and once you rise above these rules the next warrior that runs at you with his sword and shield will have you jumping around laughing as you nuke, combo, and strike your way to the WIN. Enjoy dry looting his equipment based character and proceed to the next computer programmed bound victim.

Locate Hot Spots For Metal Detecting

Try something new in metal detecting.

Most parks, schools and known spots are picked over. You need to find some new spots to use your metal detector. There are many out of the way spots that have been hidden throughout the years that have the potential to give up some mighty nice finds. There are many ways of going about finding these metal detecting sites.

Talk to the senior citizens in your area. Find some that have lived in the area for a long time. Find out where they played as children, where the church picnics were held, Old ball parks, (includes concession stands). Old building long torn down, but the lot is still vacant. Talk to older hunters in your area. They may know where there are some old foundations, caves etc.

We found some old auto parts, including an Arizona 1933 copper license plate. This plate was in excellent condition. It was buried about 1 foot. This lead came from a road crew, who was going to build a new bridge over some old ranch foundations.

Another idea for finding some out of the way sites is to obtain some old maps of your area. Search local flee markets and garage sales for these maps or visit your local library and historical society, they will most likely have what you are looking for. A good map will be very detailed and show where structures and homesteads were; they will also show points of interest.

Since I'm a senior citizen and have lived in the same town for last 45+ years; I started thinking about locations I knew. One was an old little league ballpark, abandoned some 30 years ago. It was now a big vacant lot. I remembered where the stands where and the concession stand was located. I located some very nice silver coins over a two-hour hunt. Plus a ladies diamond ring.

You need to look for different places to hunt. Parks in your area most likely have been picked over by you and others. Use the tips in this report, and find virgin metal detecting spots to hunt. You may be in for a surprise!

NASCAR – The Drivers Training

So maybe you are fascinated with NASCAR and would like to choose this as a career. How does one go about participating in race driver training so as to become a driver? There are drivers training schools but all are very expensive and there is no guarantee that you will become a real NASCAR driver. So what kind of training makes a professional driver?

Well, just as in other professional sports, the competition to be a driver is very tough. But more than that, the majority of people don't get there because of a lack of driver training. It usually is because of who they know, who their family is, and where they started. These drivers start when they are very young and run the go cart circuits. Their fathers were probably race car drivers. They probably ran into a promoter or sponsor somewhere along the way that gives them their big break.

NASCAR driver training includes the physical portion and also stresses mental conditioning. Although to the fans it looks easy, a driver's brain has to work very fast to be alert to other cars around him while trying to take the lead and maintain it.

The best training has been learned in the early years by most of these drivers when they were just children. Growing up around tracks and being able to drive the cars at young ages allowed the driver training to become somewhat instinctive. This is very important because later on during professional competition, the carbon monoxide levels can get very high inside of the driver's compartment. Carbon monoxide can cause confusion. The way to overcome confusion is to depend on instinct. Training accentuates the instinct.

The physical conditioning of the driver is the subject for an article all its own but you can think about it as somewhat like an astronaut preparing for his or her first launch. The G forces are very significant for a race car driver and driver training includes getting conditioned to them. Astronauts experience significantly more G forces but the NASCAR driver should include conditioning for them nonetheless.

The training also includes the driver's education from a young age. You might ask what non-driving education has to do with NASCAR driver training. Well, a driver is going to be promoting the products of some very large and prominent companies. That means that along the way he or she will have to give an endorsement of the products. If these guys get in front of the camera and cannot use proper grammar it would not look too good.

Another reason why education is important in NASCAR is because the driver won't be able to drive forever. Once a driver gets into middle age, it becomes tougher. So he will need to be able to branch out into other aspects of the racing "business." He'll probably still be running the team but will have to think more of the business aspect of things. This is where business and marketing education would be most beneficial.

Many of the retired drivers such as Richard Petty operate driving schools as well as serious driver improvement programs when they're offering NASCAR driving experiences for those wondering what it's like to be as a NASCAR driver.

F1 down, plenty more motor sports to go

The Formula One world championship season has ended for the season, leaving many Brits a little disappointed. Everything was looking good for racing prodigy Lewis Hamilton, who at the tender age of 22 looked as though he had the world title in the bag.

However, things weren't to be; in the final race in Brazil, it all went wrong for Hamilton who suffered from mechanical problems with his car and finished 8th in the race, meaning he was just beaten to being crowned the youngest ever F1 champion.

Hamilton's team, McLaren, have stated that they may appeal against the stewards' decision not to penalise Williams and BMW Sauber for alleged fuel irregularities, but despite this meaning that Hamilton would then be crowned champion, he has publicly stated that he does not want to win the title under such circumstances. He has announced that he wants to win the world championship on the racetrack, not in an appeal court, adding that such a situation would be detrimental to the sport of F1.

Even though the F1 season is over for another year, there are still plenty of world class motoring events to keep petrol heads happy; The World Rally Championship, the Karting World Championship and the European Drag racing championship amongst others.

And for those who wonder how motor sport could ever be seen as 'green', the FIA Alternatives Energies Cup is a growing competition that pits various green forms of alternative energy powered vehicles against each other, such as solar power and electrically powered automobiles. Hardened motor sport enthusiasts may miss the scream and smell of the petrol engine, but the Alternative Energies cup is helping to further renewable and less damaging forms of vehicular technology whilst at the same time providing some superb racing sport.

And don't forget the hundreds of local motor races that take place throughout the country at small club circuits every week. These may not carry the prestige of world cup events, but they can be just as entertaining and it's here that you'll find some of the most interesting classes of vehicles being pitted against each other; coaches, taxis, ambulances, tractors, minis - even sit-on lawn mowers, if it's got wheels and an engine, there's likely to be a club of enthusiasts that races them.

We all know that a massive part of the attraction of motor sports is the element of danger and the chance of a spectacular crash; and this is one area where local banger racing circuits can almost guarantee entertainment, as many local race days will end with a real crowd pleaser - the demolition derby. This is a 'last man stands' affair - enter all ye who dare, rev up your engines and then bump, crash, scrape and collide until only one car can still move. The perfect end to a day at the races.

Layin' The Smack Down on Hollywood

Dwayne Johnson is the star of several Hollywood blockbusters, but he is perhaps best known to most for his time as professional wrestler, The Rock. During the late '90s and early '00s he was one of the most popular and successful wrestlers in the business.

Debuting in WWE as a clean-cut 'babyface' (wrestling slang for hero, or good guy) in 1996, Johnson became despised by fans, who found the character uninteresting and unrealistic in the wake of anti-hero characters like Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the De-Generation-X group. As a result of this backlash, Johnson was eventually turned 'heel' (wrestling slang for villain, or bad guy).

Ironically, it was during this time, when the Rock character was portrayed as arrogant and devious, and often insulted fans in interviews, that Johnson reached the height of his popularity, as fans saw a real talent and charisma in him. He went on to hold the World Heavyweight Championship nine times.

Johnson's massive popularity with wrestling fans soon saw him follow in the footsteps of Hulk Hogan and crossover into the mainstream. While still a full-time wrestler, Johnson appeared on rapper Wyclef Jean's track "It Doesn't Matter" ("It Doesn't Matter" being one of The Rock's signature catchphrases). He also made an appearance as guest host on US comedy show 'Saturday Night Live' (a role usually reserved for movie and pop stars), perfectly showcasing his acting and comedy abilities. Johnson soon landed his first role in a movie, as the Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns.

The job earned Johnson a place in the Guinness Book of Records, for the largest amount paid to a first-time actor ($5.5M US). He resumed the role, this time as the star, in the subsequent spin-off, entitled The Scorpion King. Johnson's wrestling appearances became fewer and fewer as he began to focus on his acting career. He starred in more action movies, including Walking Tall and Doom, but they all either bombed at the box office, or were slated by critics - or both.

In October 2007, Johnson and his wife donated $1M US to the University of Miami's athletics department, the largest amount ever donated to the university by a former student - Johnson attended the university in 1990, playing as defensive tackle for the Miami Hurricanes. In 1992, he was part of the team that won the National Championship.

The Hurricanes are the most successful college football team of the last twenty-five years in America, and have won more National Championships than any other team in their division. From 2008, The Hurricanes begin playing their home games at the Dolphins Stadium located in Miami Gardens. For anyone wishing to visit this world-famous stadium and see the Hurricanes in action for themselves, there are many hotels in Miami available.

Since his last major run in WWE ended in 2003, Johnson has stated several times in interviews that he is finished with wrestling. He has made occasional non-wrestling appearances on WWE television during the last few years, but it's unlikely he will ever actually wrestle again - considering that his average movie salary is US$10M, Johnson makes more from movies than he could ever hope to make in the wrestling ring!
