How to rule your guild with an iron fist

So you've just started your own guild, or perhaps have been running one with moderate success for some time, and want some tips that will put both you and your guild over the top. Well get ready to dip that clutched fist into a boiling pot of molten iron, as this is your easy trial by fire (or molten iron) to ruling your guild with an iron fist.

Guild Goals and recruitment

A relatively simple concept, but often overlooked. Most people initially create guilds with no real goal or direction in mind, and haphazardly recruit as many people as possible for prestige. While guilds formed in this way are not necessarily doomed to failure, they will likely never reach any pinnacle. Creating or running a guild with a specific purpose, likely war or high level quest related, and recruiting only like minded players will go a long way to creating an environment that all your members will be content with. This is vital for avoiding defections or uprisings.

When to rule and when to delegate

As with many things in all aspects of life, it's important to have a nice moderation between the hands on running of your guild and delegating tasks or the running of some areas of your guild to others. Running your guild like a dictatorship by refusing to entrust others with duties, and not listening to their opinions or suggestions will only lead to animosity. Likewise, running your guild too loose by passing off all duties and decision making to others will limit your authority and make you appear lazy and uncommitted.

All major decisions regarding guild affairs should be openly discussed with all members. The decision making ultimately rests with you though. A balance where you retain authority, but respect and reward your members when deserved will lead to their respect and devotion.

Guild relations

The ways in which guilds can interact with each other varies with each game. In some games or server types, the success of your guild may depend heavily on allying with other guilds. In others it may not play much, if any importance. Similar to your personal guild goals, you should ally or be associated with guilds with similar leadership and goals. It can also be a good idea to have someone in your guild who is responsible for dealing with other guilds, or players in general, preferably someone charismatic, and well known/liked if possible.

Guild Extras

Running special guild events will increase the enjoyment of all your members, breaking up the sometimes monotonous regular game play activities, and make them feel proud to be involved with your guild. If you can, setting up a personal guild website is also advised. This will give your members another avenue to communicate with each other, and give your guild added prestige. If you have a member with some website design and maintenance experience, this would be the perfect task to give them.

These are just some of the many areas in which you can improve the leadership and quality of your guild. Running your guild with the utmost success is in your grasp. Be creative, strong and just, and your guild will surely blossom.

Falling for Niagara: the international marathon

For most people, Niagara Falls is known as a thunderous wonder of the world where millions of gallons of water cascade into the deep pool which sits on the border of Canada and the USA. The waterfall is one of the biggest natural attractions in the world, drawing approximately 20 million visitors every year, but for athletes, Niagara is much more than 168,000 square meters of water pouring over the face of the falls every minute.

Every year the town hosts the renowned Niagara Falls International Marathon. The 26 mile course begins by the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo N.Y, travelling along the majestic parkways of Buffalo and then crossing the Peace Bridge into the historic town of Fort Erie, Ontario. Runners then follow the route alongside the beautiful Niagara River Parkway before crossing the finish line at the Niagara Falls themselves.

The Niagara Falls International Marathon is unique in that it's the only marathon that starts in one country and finishes in another. The course is also fairly flat and therefore fast and has hosted two USA men's Olympic trials (in 1980 and 1984) and also the World Veteran's Games marathon in 1995.

Race supporters will find plenty to do aside from cheering; to get up close and personal with the falls themselves, take a boat trip on the Maid of the Mist which brings tourists very close to the pounding waters. For those that prefer their water a little warmer, the Fallsview Indoor Waterpark offers flumes, hot springs, a plunge pool and tidal wave pool, an arcade, beach club and a Planet Hollywood restaurant.

For those who'd prefer to stay dry, the Niagara Vintage Wine Tour offers an insight into the Niagara wine region, deemed one of the best wineries in Canada and famous for its brand of "ice wine". Here a variety of tours are on offer, ranging from the three hour "Espersso" tour, to the evening "Wine and Dine tour".

Runners and supporters of the marathon can find a wide range of hotels in Niagara and the surrounding area, though it is advised that bookings are made well in advance of the event, as accommodation does fill up fast, with over 4000 runners from over 30 countries all descending on Niagara for the race.

Hundreds of volunteers also line the course to provide runners with liquid refreshment, and washroom and medical units are stationed along the route to assist anyone in need. In running circles the route is considered one of the easiest and most enjoyable marathons in North America and is a particularly good marathon for those attempting their first ever race.

Mixed Martial Arts Techniques

If you want to sharpen your combat skills for self-defense purposes, you can do so with Martial Arts. Consist of several systems of traditions and practices, they are also studied for reasons of mental discipline, self confidence and character development. There are many types or categories of martial arts - each one different from the next. Here are some of the most popular types.

Filipino Martial Arts - because the Philippines was the site of so many battles and combats, it is not surprising that the Filipinos have developed their own style of martial arts. Employing a wide range of methods in training, instructors of this type of martial arts believe that it is necessary to use knowledge and skills when in combat. Traditional Filipino martial arts also uses weapons like the sibat, baston, espada, latigo and lubid.

Chinese Martial Arts - the most famous of all styles are kung fu and wushu. When referring to kung fu, the system of martial arts refers to the accomplishment or skill of the person. On the other hand, wushu is more applicable to martial arts activities in general. In fact, it is considered to be a modern sport, like gymnastics. Chinese martial arts was borne from the need to defend one's self during ancient China. Soldiers, preparing for war, are trained in martial arts in preparation for hand to hand combat.

Russian Martial Arts - like the Filipino and Chinese martial arts, the Russian martial arts was borne from the necessity for defense. During the ancient times, the Russian military have to protect their lands from invaders. The Russian martial arts is actually a combination of several styles including Japanese and Chinese martial arts. In any case, it resulted to a new style of martial arts and commonly referred to as Russian Sambo.

Sports and shopping in the UK's capital

As the capital city of the United Kingdom, London not only plays host to a plethora of top-level sporting events, but also provides an ideal base for participants and spectators alike of many sporting disciplines. So whether you're running the London marathon, watching football at Wembley Stadium, playing tennis at the All-England club or having a flutter on equine action at Sandown Park, London is sure to have something to offer.

Since its inception in 1981, the London Marathon is now widely recognised as one of the top five international marathon races and attracts runners from all over the globe to compete over the 26 miles 385 yards course that winds it way around the city. Starting from Blackheath on the south side of the River Thames, crossing Tower Bridge and finishing in The Mall, the race encapsulates some of London's best known sights including the historic ship 'Cutty Sark', the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace amongst others. Despite being a serious athletic event with a large prize money offering, the London Marathon is perhaps more closely associated with club and fun runners who participate in the race - often dressed in bizarre fancy dress costumes - for charity, and the race is now the premier annual fund raising event in the world according to race organisers, having amassed over 315 million for good causes.

The annual FA Community Shield football match returned to Wembley stadium this year after a seven-year stint at Cardiff's Millennium stadium. The match, played as the traditional curtain-raiser to the new football season is a major charity fundraiser featuring the winners of the previous season's league tournament and FA Cup, although with six Premier League clubs as well as ten lower-league clubs in and around London, football enthusiasts are never far away from a match. Wembley stadium also hosts numerous international matches throughout the football season as well as a number of music concerts, often featuring globally-renowned artists.

Although actually in Esher, Surrey, Sandown Park is easily accessible from London's public transport network. Sandown Park hosts regular race meetings throughout the year, for both Flat and National Hunt racing and several high-profile races are run over the course in both disciplines, including the Coral Eclipse Stakes, Tingle Creek Chase and the Whitbread Gold Cup, now known as the Betfred Gold Cup. Each year the course also holds an annual Variety Club charity meeting which is among the course's most popular and high-profile events. The Variety Club event draws a host of celebrities to the track, so celebrity-spotting makes for an added bonus to the day.

However, shopping is perhaps London's best known sport and the capital is world-renowned for its shopping areas and famous shops and boutiques. For those more interested in this discipline, participants are certainly spoiled for choice. Oxford Street lies in the heart of central London's busiest shopping district and with over 300 shops is Europe's largest high street, running for around a mile and a half from Marble Arch to St. Giles' Circus. Home to such stores as Selfridges, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Debenhams and Primark, Oxford Street forms a veritable shoppers' paradise. Or for something a little more 'alternative', take a wander around Covent Garden or Camden Market where you'll be sure to pick up something out of the ordinary.

With an abundance of hotels in London, you're sure to find an ideal location from which to indulge your sporting passion, either as a participant or a spectator. And with an abundance of museums, theatres, art galleries and other attractions, there's a lot more to London besides sports on a London city break - if all else fails, there's always shopping!

The Emergence of Philippine Boxing

Manny Pacquiao has done a lot for his country. His boxing
prowess has brought fame to his country and has made him a hero among his
countrymen. His fame, charisma and talent have also brought new opportunities
for his fellow Filipino boxers. International boxing promoters has now begun to
put Filipino boxers into their international boxing promotions. As a result,
the boxing talents of Filipino boxers became exposed to the world and have led
to the revival of Pinoy boxing.

This revival has culminated in the International boxing
promotion that has been named as the boxing "World Cup". This event is
projected as a yearly event that will be done between two competing countries
that are considered as boxing powerhouses. This year the competition was
between perennial boxing powerhouse Mexico,
and the Philippines,
the new boxing hotbed. Mexico
was the defending boxing "World Cup" champion as it defeated Thailand
in the first match up between leading boxing nations.

The Philippine boxing team won five of the six bouts at
stake at this year's "World Cup" of Boxing held at the Arco Arena. The grand
boxing event was held in front of a highly-partisan crowd of 4,469 screaming
fans from both countries. Pinoy boxing has solidified its position as the
world's boxing superpower by snatching the title away from long-reigning Mexico.

Gerry Penalosa contributed the biggest win when he wrested the WBO bantam title
from Mexican champ Jhonny Gonzalez with a come-from-behind knockout win. The
Pinoy boxing star hit Gonzales with a paralyzing body shot in the seventh
round. However, it was Z Gorres who
sealed the Filipinos' victory. He stopped former WBC champ Eric Ortiz with an
eighth-round technical knockout to earn the fourth win for the Philippine
boxing team.

Diosdado Gabi of Davao City
was the first winner for Team Philippines
by earning an eight-round unanimous decision over Mexico's
Jose Angel Beranza. Michael Domingo then followed it up with a six-round
masterful unanimous win over previously unbeaten Miguel Roman. The
Domingo-Roman bout was considered one of the most exciting fights of the night
and really excited the crowd for the main event.

Cebu's AJ 'Bazooka' Banal completed the five victories needed to secure the
World Cup trophy by stopping Jorge Cardenas in the third round of their
scheduled six-rounder. The Philippine boxing prospect displayed great power and
skill as he repeatedly hit his Mexican opponent with flushed shots culminating
with an explosive counter that dropped Cardenas.
Cardenas seems to have twisted his
knee preventing him from standing up and continuing the fight. However, the
Pinoy boxing team did not sweep all six matches as Rey "Boom Boom"
Bautista experienced a very painful first round KO defeat at the hands of
Daniel Ponce de Leon.

The Philippines'
victory at this year's Boxing "World Cup" will only fuel the desire of Filipino
boxers to train harder. Now that the door is open to them, they need to
capitalize by doing their best in world boxing championships. Hopefully, the
excitement they bring will help revive boxing and provide honor to Philippine
boxing.

North Face

It seems like I can't go anywhere today without seeing a North Face jacket. It's almost as though it goes hand in hand with a Starbucks latte. From a company founded by two hiking enthusiasts, The North Face has grown into a corporation that proudly supplies 2 jackets in every American household. I actually made that figure up but I'd be willing to bet it's not far off. Regardless of their popularity, The North Face brands themselves well as an established retailer competing in a massive marketplace.

Waterproof jackets have been in production for decades but there is something about a North Face jacket that distinguishes it from the competition on a crowded clothing rack. A North Face jacket combines style with functionality. Teaming up with award winning companies such as GORE-TEX and PolarTec, North Face jackets are constructed from quality materials will keep you protected under harsh conditions. North Face has also been a pioneer in wilderness chic clothing. North Face recognizes that consumers want fashionable, functional clothing for active lifestyles. A North Face jacket will provide both as well as predict Lottery numbers, just reference the manufacture ID on the inside tag and derive your own combination. Please note that these are not necessarily winning numbers.

The North Face Denali jacket is by far the best selling fleece jacket from the The North Face collection. The Denali jacket functions perfectly as an insulating layer under a waterproof shell for outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. You can also wear a North Face Denali fleece as an outer layer to block light rain and snow. The signature nylon shoulder patches help to resist abrasion caused by backpacks and anything else you carry on your shoulders. The style of the Denali is eye catching but the functionality is the binding principle that inspires existing owners to buy 3 for friends.

But a North Face jacket isn't cheap. Given the quality of construction and the notable materials, it also comes with a solid price tag. North Face understands that not everyone is ready to forgo a week of groceries to own a jacket. There is a better solution than waiting patiently for an end-of-the-season sale! A North Face Outlet store will help you to experience a North Face jacket with less of a dent in your bank account. A North Face Outlet is stocked with popular styles that need a good home. Swing by one of the multiple North Face Outlet locations and experience things for yourself. If you aren't located by any physical locations, hop online to your favorite outdoor retailer and have a North Face Denali shipped to your door step. It's worth it.

MAKING EASY CARP AND CATFISH BAITS - 16 Amazing Expert Tips!

<B>* Have you ever wondered why one lucky guy' seems to catch the biggest fish again and again, while the majority of other fishermen just seem to get the average catches? Why is that? *</B>

Many of us would love to catch those big catfish, carp, bass, trout etc, every time we go fishing. It may just be that the guy is a genius angler, but real fishing success is often simply about using bait that is more effective than most other anglers baits at getting round fishes natural fears and resistance to eating it!...

But how can we achieve this? Well here's a few of some of the best most proven methods of increasing your catches, especially for carp and catfish, but can be applied very effectively to many other species:

1. Try taking a look at the most popular baits where you fish and eliminate any similarity your homemade bait has with them. This especially applies to your own unique fishing bait recipe or formulas. This removes the fishes danger reference points'. This gives your bait a massive edge' because the fish will not associate your bait with danger, anything like as much as with the baits everyone else are using - after all , the whole point of a bait is simply to fool the fish into taking a hook into it's mouth!

2. Make your bait different sizes, odd shapes, density, colors, flavors, with different attractors and additives, the more different to the usual bait the fish experience, the more effective your bait will be potentially be. Making your own bait puts the odds back in your favor and the power back into your hands - literally!

3. Absolutely pack your baits with "powerful free amino acids' (the type bodybuilders use as a liquid protein food supplement.) Even if you're making a proprietary bait using a commercial base mix' that anyone can purchase, this will really set your bait apart and make it preferable to fish!

4. Pack bait with minerals, vitamins and trace elements - get a health tonic supplement from your local drug store. Very few people realize that these are in fact amazing attractors in their own right! An astounding edge is to massively increase the attractiveness and soluble nutritional message leaking from your bait, by soaking your hook bait in a mixture if fresh liquidized sweet corn, molasses and liquid protein food (so-called free amino acids.)

5. It has been proven that when tested carp were provided with a number of complete foods providing all their nutritional requirements, preferred the food that had been sweetened. E.g., try sweetening honey and molasses, fruit sugar (fructose), or saccharin.

6. Add Sea salt to your bait - this is one of the most proven and unbelievable fish feeding triggers, and a great nutritional taste enhancer full of minerals. Nearly every animal and fish cannot live without salt!

7. For many fish including catfish and carp, pack your bait with fresh good quality digestible protein - it doesn't need to be a large proportion, no more than a third of your bait. Ingredients such as trout pellet powder, meat and poultry meals, blood meal, fish meals and shellfish meals and liver powder are great.

Add energy rich carbohydrates to provide balanced nutrition and binding. For example, soya flour, semolina, or even ordinary white or brown wheat flour. For carp try adding some wheat germ it has excellent properties!

8. Add a small amount of oil to your bait for a balanced nutritional value. For catfish this could be you favorite fish oil. For carp the best is probably pure cold pressed hemp oil; it's natures super food' and is one of the richest and most healthy and nutritional oils known to man and fish!

9. Give your bait some protein that's been pre-digested' or hydrolyzed.' This is easily achieved by adding a small amount of proprietary powder, like pre-digested liver, fish meal or shellfish extracts to your bait; available from bait companies all across the worldwide web.

This method is incredibly effective, improving the fish attractive amino acid profile of your bait. Fish are extremely efficient at detecting and utilizing amino acids, and you may well find that with the higher the rate of inclusion of these highly fish digestible ingredients, your catches and numbers of bigger fish soar too!

10. Allow your bait to cure' for 3-4 days prior to use; this allows your bait to start to ferment and lets bacterial enzymes release alcohols, sugars and increase the level of pre-digested proteins in your bait; all amazingly extremely good fish feeding triggers and attractors. See the difference this makes to your catches!

11. If you use boilies' rather than paste or dough baits, try chopping edges off your hook baits as if other fish have been playing with your bait and taking small chunks out of it; this can really make the bigger fish feel' safer when they sample your hook baits - try piecing your hook baits right through to release the maximum attraction even from the center of your bait; it really works!

12. Try wrapping your bait and your hook (except the point) in a paste or dough. Try a mixture of ordinary flour, marmite, parmesan cheese, garlic granules, curry spices, sea salt, eggs and liquid amino acids - this mixture is pure dynamite' and really makes them bite!

13. One of the most successful paste / dough baits of recent times is made from a mixture of fish meal and a couple of pre-digested ingredients like pre-digested, liver powder, fish meals, pre-digested yeast powder or pre-digested shellfish extracts. Try binding them together with just ordinary flour and loads of liquid amino acids / protein food supplement.

The addition of corn steep liquor powder or liquid, and pure betaine is a massive boost to the power of attraction. (But use no eggs, or water in the mix; just liquid protein' amino acids. (A body building supplement.) This can be used as bait soaks and dips for pellets and boilies too. Experiment with different proportions to get your dough / pate to hold and last on your hook for different times. When you bait up' or chum your swim with free baits like this, to attract the fish - hold on to your rods!!!

14. Add natural ingredients to your bait, for example, bird foods contain all kinds of fantastic foods fish love, like insects, seeds, grubs and worms. Many times, these encourage smaller fish to find your bait, and these can lead the bigger ones to your hook. Spirulina is a great attractor that attracts natural aquatic animals to your baits. These gather and form a brilliant natural free bait' so attracting fish naturally!

15. Add a crunch factor' to your bait - many fish have food detectors inside their gills, and allowing fish to experience eating your bait like it was natural food, e.g., like shrimps or snails or mussels, is a great way to turn them on' and get more confident feeding and more bites!

The chitin' in this hard material is also a massive natural dietary requirement for carp, essential for healthy liver function, healthy blood, and repair and growth of skeletal structures. It is also high in nitrogen; an important building block of protein, also essential for repair, growth and other processes and functions in carp.

16. If you use boilies' for carp catfish, etc there is a simple method of improving them: If you buy your baits frozen in a bag, then open them up and let them defrost and warm up for 3-4 days in advance of fishing. This gives bacterial enzymes the time to start breaking down your baits and releasing very attractive alcohols, sugars and amino acids for example. It really works well for better catches and can even promote quicker bites!

Making and adapting your own and readymade shop - bought baits to make them different to the rest, and far more effective than normal is a science, and a very satisfying 'art'. When you have armed yourself with a range of great baits, the confidence you feel is awesome and especially satisfying when you've designed them made your own homemade baits yourself; and they catch your next personal best!'

I could show you many real life examples of how using edges like these and others, have resulted in fantastic big fish catches.

I love researching and writing about fishing bait because it is one of the fastest short-cuts to success! I am into bait in a big way, having even researched the subject with a PhD biochemist to reveal the reasons why and how baits really work to catch fish. I've found that a little bait knowledge can catch you more fish, but the more you know - the more consistent your catches can become - and the more big fish you catch!

The truly amazing thing is, ANY angler can achieve truly amazing catches with just enough of the right bait knowledge! Then other anglers will wonder what his secret to success' is...

The author has many more fishing and bait edges' up his sleeve. Every single one can have a huge impact on improving your catches. (Warning: This article is protected by copyright.)

Tips For Efficient Coyote Hunting

Coyote hunting is becoming more and more popular among
hunting enthusiasts due to the fact that it offers a real thrill when you chase
them in the wilderness. It is well-known that
coyotes are very intelligent animals so you have to have a quick hand
and mind to catch these clever animals; here are some tips that will come in
hand in the nick of time:

Tip No.1 : The first thing you should do is try to remove
your scent, make sure that you are odorless because coyotes have a very
sensitive nose and they will observe you from a respectable distance if you
fail removing your odor.

Tip No.2 : Be careful when you choose your gun, this is one
of the most important tips you should take into consideration. Many experienced
hunters use the Mini Bolt.22 or the Big Boy Special Editions, it depends on the
hunter prefers.

Tip No.3 : Choose the proper camouflage pattern for the
nature conditions in which you will do your hunting. No matter what type of
pattern you will choose it is highly advisable to sit near trees or bushes so
that your chances of being spotted will
be as low as possible.

Tip No.4 : Calling can be very efficient if you do it the
right way. The market offers a huge variety of products from which you may take
your pick. Regardless of what you choose, be sure not to make the mistake that
most hunters make: calling to loud. You
must keep it at a medium level, never exaggerate. Don't forget to give the
coyote time to respond to your call, with other words, be patience. Some prefer
mouth blowing, some prefer electronic calls, it depends on each and every
hunter.

Tip No.5 : It involves movement. You must do everything that
you can to keep your movement at a minimum level. The coyote is a very
perceptive animal and will surely observe you before you observe him, so try to
stand still most of the time.

Tip No.6 : Decoys can improve your efficiency if you use
them the right way. You could use a life-like coyote decoy or a rabbit decoy as
well as others, the choice is up to you. Decoys are good because they take the
attention away from the hunter and on to the decoy thus improving your chances
for a more efficient shot.

Tip No.7 : One of the newest trends in coyote hunting is
using dogs. Choosing the proper dog can be a real problem. Some say that the
American Staghound is the best choice, some say that the Plott Hound is the
most efficient, it all depends on the dogs because not all dogs are the same;
it depends on the breed, the way that they were trained and others as well.

Tip No.8 : Hunting during the night can be more exciting but
it is also quite harder. There are a couple of things that you should be aware
of before hunting during the night : your vision is limited during the night
and due to this fact the coyote's can't be spotted as easily as they can be
during the day; the wind is usually lower during the night; the shot is harder
because you won't be able to observe the target entirely. During the night you should: anticipate your
shot, watch the back side as well as the wind, use your light properly.

I hope these tips will come in hand when you are out in the
wilderness hunting coyotes. Be careful to use the proper equipment ( calls,
decoys, rifles ) as well as the best hunting dogs for coyote hunts because as
you all know, coyotes are known to escape when you least expect it.

Summary:
Coyote hunting is getting more and more popular due to the fact that it isn't
quite easy to hunt coyotes so the excitement is guaranteed. As they say, the
chase is better than the catch.

The Basics of Airsoft

Airsoft by definition is a sport where players
simulate military or law enforcement combat by using airsoft guns
(which look a lot like real guns, to add to the realism) and other
airsoft gear. The game of airsoft was developed in Japan, where firearms were (and still are) almost impossible to get without resorting to illegal means. An alternative was developed, and that alternative was airsoft. Because of this, it is no surprise that airsoft is actually most popular in East Asian countries such as China, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea (North Korea is more interested in using real guns!)

The basic point of airsoft is to shoot other
players with airsoft guns, thereby getting them out and pushing your
team closer to victory. Because of the nature of the game, safety
items such as helmets and cups must be used (the only way one could get
seriously injured in airsoft is if they were hit in the face,
especially eyes, and that is why the mask is the most important safety
feature). Unlike paintball (a very similiar sport), no splatters are
made on the skin or clothes, and unless the person yells that they are
out, you will not know if they are hit. That is why the game of airsoft relies on the "Honor System", where players lift their gun up and say, "Hit". Also,
one player on each team is usually designated as a medic, to revive
players so they can resume play. Without medics, people who got hit
very early would have to wait for a long time until the next game (with
paintball, medics are hardly ever incorporated into play). Weapon hit rules vary depending on the game. Usually,
a weapon being hit is the same as the player being hit, but if the
person has a sidearm, rules can be modified so that the person just is
not allowed to use their primary and must instead only use the sidearm.

The three types of airsoft guns are spring, electric, and gas. Spring guns are usually cheap but can get very expensive if they fire at a high FPS. Electric,
also known as AEG, guns are powered by a battery and the main advantage
is that they are automatic, but are generally not very powerful unless
upgraded. Gas guns are the most powerful, and gases
supported include carbon dioxide, propane, green gas, red gas, and high
pressure air (HPA). Red gas is not legal in many states because its
pressure is so high.

The items used for airsoft extend far beyond just
the guns. Grenades, vests, belts, extra magazines, speed loaders, and
of course safety gear can be purchased and utilized. The initial costs
for airsoft can be quite heavy (depending on how you look at it), but
after that, all one needs are more pellets and perhaps grenades, gun
upgrades, or extra accessories. When airsoft pellets are bought in
the bulk, you can save a lot of money, so it is wise to buy a lot at
one time.

Arcteryx ArticleMoosejaw

Remember when you were first told that money can't buy happiness? Well, whomever told you that lied. Arcteryx has proven this theory wrong for anyone who is in search of the ultimate upgrade from their current outdoor gear. Arcteryx clothing, backpacks and climbing gear provide instant gratification for anyone who is dedicated enough to add Arcteryx to their collection.

Arcteryx began their success in 1991 when they set up shop in Vancouver, BC. Arcteryx engineers weren't interested in solely improving the market, they stopped nothing short of setting new targets for the outdoor industry. You'll understand the first time you are fitted for an Arcteryx backpack. Besides being amazed by the innovative sewing techniques, lamination construction and textiles, you'll immediately feel the comfort and convenience of each Arcteryx backpack. The Arcteryx patented thermomoulded suspensions literally mold to your body shape and help to distribute loads more evenly while you're on the trail. Anyone who has stressed to fight the pains of carrying weight will be amazed at the relief provided by this modern suspension system. Watertight zippers are another added bonus on an Arcteryx backpack. You lose the weight from protection flaps and gain less bulky, more efficient zippers. Small advancements like these help Arcteryx to stay ahead of the competition.

The latest Arcteryx AC packs have premiered as an innovative addition to the Arcteryx backpack line. Utilizing a monoframe suspension, an AC pack provides a lightweight frame bounded directly to the main body of the pack. With this integration you can expect an increase in comfort and stability. The 420ACT fabric on the AC Arcteryx backpack line allows for seam placement where it wasn't feasible in the past. Engineers now have the ability to bond directly to this revolutionary fabric. This means that components can be added anywhere on the pack rather than the standard industry locations.

An Arcteryx jacket requires precise construction to ensure that every piece is fit to perform to it's potential. An Arcteryx jacket will come at a price, but it's worth it. Get psyched that every Arcteryx jacket will function beyond your expectations. Besides making you look much more bad ass on the mountain, an Arcteryx jacket will provide you with the protection to fight off the harsh elements of the outdoors. The two most acclaimed Arcteryx jacket styles are the Arcteryx Gamma and Arcteryx Theta.

Take the highest performing fabric, find a balance between protection and breathability, and you've discovered the Arcteryx Gamma. This Arcteryx jacket can perform as an outwear piece or as an insulation layer during colder conditions. The Arcteryx Gamma is actually a softshell that retains its texture through a pill resistance, stretch material that blocks wind and rain using a super tough, stretch-woven fabric. The Arcteryx Gamma comes in a variety of styles including jackets, vests, pullovers and pants.

The masterminds behind the Arcteryx Theta line created a hardshell that is fitting for an array of outdoors activities. An Arcteryx Theta jacket is perfect for demanding climbs and the pressures of running errands on a rainy afternoon. The light-weight GORE-TEX fabric will keep you dry in the harshest of downpours. The Arcteryx Theta is cut to run longer in the torso and sports reinforced fabric at all common abrasion points. The Arcteryx Theta jacket is more than just a hardshell, it's reassurance that you are ready for whatever components Mother Nature can test you with.

Boat Plans Are Essential Before You Start Building Your Boat

When I was a kid, I used to talk to my dad about building boats. Every winter, we would decide that we would get boat plans during the summer and build something, and every summer we would forget about it. Part of it had to do with me, I will admit. I was a kid, and my attention was pretty flighty. For the most part, I enjoyed spending time with my friends more than with my father. Nevertheless, even if I had been there every day, I doubt we would have been able to put our wooden boat building plan into action.

My dad worked so much that he scarcely had time to look at a boat plan, much less build it. So between the two of us, my childhood drifted away with no boat building. As a matter of fact, we never got around to building a boat until I had moved out on my own. We hadn't gone sailing together in several years. When I was a kid, we used to go sailing all the time, but once I moved away, my dad gave it up. He didn't have the time, or so he said. One day, however, I was looking through my old books that had been sitting in a box since I first moved away. Boy was I surprised when I found some boat plans among them.

There were several different blueprints, designs that we had bought back when I was in high school. I called him up and we met up for coffee. When I mentioned the boat plans, he was interested. He looked them over and looked up at me. That is when we decided to build a boat together. We decided to start with something simple. We found some boat plans for a 16' wooden Dory, and figured we would go with those. A Dory is a small, stable boat. We would be able to build it in the garage and it could be easily transported by car. Working with the boat plans was harder than I anticipated, however. My dad had a good bit of woodworking equipment in his garage, but neither of us had used it in years.

There were definitely a few frustrating evenings before we really started to make some progress. When we finally got that boat together, however, it was worth all the effort. It really was quite a beauty sitting there, freshly painted and ready to put to sea. It made me want to build more boats!

Advice On Choosing Hunting Guns

When I used to go hunting with my dad, we paid very little attention to what hunting guns we used. We had had the same hunting rifles in the family for at least a generation or two, and we figured that they worked well enough. My hunting gun was a single shot bolt action rifle, probably an antique. It worked pretty well for my purposes, but I have to admit that it was a little bit tricky at times. I

t would jam up sometimes, and the pull was so hard on the trigger that it was hard to time the shot exactly right. I was so used to shooting with that hunting gun that I had no idea if I was missing anything. I decided to find out. The other day, I went out to purchase hunting guns. I went to a hunting and camping gear supplies store. You see, I needed a lot of hunting equipment for the season. This season was about to open, and I was out of all kinds of things. I needed waders, a nice warm jacket, a new sleeping bag, and even some camouflage. Hunting guns were just one more item on my list. They turned out to be a very important one. I ended up getting a 308 hunting rifle. It was a much higher caliber than what I'd been using before, but I figured that it would make the job easier.

With the old 22 hunting guns we used to use, it would often take several shots to bring down a deer. You would shoot it once and then it would bound away. Then you would spend all day hard following the trail just to shoot it again with the hunting gun and bring it down. With the nice new hunting gun, I was pretty sure that making a kill would be easier this year than ever. However, I felt like new hunting guns needed new hunting accessories.

I decided to get a hunter rifle scope to try out. When I first thought about getting a scope, I was a little bit hesitant because I thought it would take all the sport out of it. Nevertheless, last year I didn't get a single kill. I wanted to make sure that that wouldn't happen again this year, So I decided to get the best hunting equipment that I could. Now I will see whether modern hunting guns and hunting scopes are all they're cracked up to be.

Sports Clothing Is Very Important In Any Sport

I would not exactly say that I hate sports clothing. It is just fine for what it is designed for. I play soccer, and I would not do it without soccer shorts, cleats, and a lightweight jersey designed to wick sweat away from my skin. They are nice, practical, functional clothes designed for a specific game, and I use them for that game. The popularity of sports fashion, however, baffles me. You see, I grew up in New York.

New York is different than the rest of the country in many ways, but one of the biggest differences is in fashion sensibilities. Even if they don't have a lot of money, people in New York believe in looking good. They were overcoats in the winter, colorful, flattering, light clothing in the summer, and comfortable, layered outfits in the fall and spring. This is why sports fashion baffles me so much. I have spent the last couple years in the Midwest, and it is everywhere. It seems like everyone wants to wear sports clothing. I can understand wearing it in the summer, but people even wear it in the winter! There is nothing more boring and bland than a baseball cap, but these are basically the only kinds of hats people own.

Even though a nice, broad brimmed hat is more practical and attractive, you almost never see them. Sports clothes are the rule everywhere. Don't get me wrong, some sports clothing is pretty well-designed. Columbia sports wear, for example, is excellent clothing if you are going to take a hike, go camping, or spend any extended length of time outdoors. Nonetheless, if you're just hanging out around town, you might as well look good. People spend lots of money on their official team throwback jerseys and Air Jordan tennies, never realizing that they look sloppy in a t-shirt, sneakers, and athletic pants. The funny thing is that the trend is even spreading to New York.

I'm not a very vain person, but I didn't realize how much I would miss the dark, well tailored trench coats until I started to see them replaced by warm-up jackets! I can understand when kids pick up on the trend - they don't know better - but even adults are starting to dress in sports clothing. If you are going to wear a shirt and shorts, you should at least not spend a fortune on the outfit! After all, what is the point?

Guide To Trout Fishing In Arkansas

To me, baseball isn't the great American pastime; fishing is. I was raised on Arkansas trout fishing, and my son has been raised on it as well. Trout fishing in Arkansas is one of the most popular ways to spend time. You see, things move a little bit slower down there. I don't want you to think that we are all rednecks. Yes friends, we have electricity, plumbing, high-tech industry, and some of the greatest cities in the world. In Arkansas, however, unlike in much of the rest of America, these things do not replace the great outdoors.

We still continue to take pleasure in nature, even as we enjoy the modern conveniences of life. I still remember my first Arkansas trout fishing trip. I was with my uncle, who I thought was a nut. He'd make strange jokes that his kids could not understand, and sometimes stared off into the distance, but boy did that man know how to fish for trout. He taught me all the tricks that you need to know for Arkansas trout fishing. He taught me how to use fishing flies, lures, sinkers, hooks, and all the rest. By the time I was done with a trip, I thought of myself as an expert fisherman. It turns out that my dad had been into Arkansas trout fishing for a long time, but had given it up in the last few years.

It seems that he just didn't have enough time anymore, but when I began to ask him to take me on a trip, he gladly agreed. Our first Arkansas trout fishing trip was a little bit awkward. You see, my dad was not really the talkative type, and it was hard for him to be alone with nothing to do but sit there and fish for so long. On the other hand, I was just the opposite, and liked to talk nonstop. It took a while to get into a natural rhythm, but when we did, it was smooth sailing from there. If you've never been Arkansas trout fishing before, I suggest that you go with an expert.

You see, the streams are different at different times of years, and you have to use different fishing techniques. It can actually get pretty complicated. You'll have much more success with your Arkansas trout fishing adventure if you go with someone who knows the ropes. They can show you how it's done.

Caring for Collectibles

Collectors of resin models will know that correct storage, cleaning and display is essential to keep your prize possessions in good condition. Models which are neglected can become dirty or damaged, so caring for your collectibles is vital for maintaining a collection's aesthetic appeal and monetary value.

When choosing a place to show off your models, select a location that will minimise your collection's exposure to potentially damaging environmental factors. A warm, dry location that is away from direct sunlight or strong electric lighting should be selected. Avoid keeping your collection in locations such as a musty basement or a hot attic for long periods of time; instead store them in an area of your home which maintains a fairly constant temperature and normal level of humidity.

A display case is an excellent way of allowing you and your visitors to enjoy your collection, whilst at the same time keeping it safe and secure. A case will not only will keep your collection out of reach of young children or pets, but will also reduce the amount of dust that accumulates on your models. There are a huge variety of glass fronted display cases on offer, in wood or metal; look for one that is large enough to accommodate your collection as it grows.

Unfortunately, no matter how well collectibles are displayed, they will still require regular cleaning to keep them in good condition. The highly detailed and intricate nature of resin models mean that dust tends to find its way into the textured surface, especially in models which are unglazed. Avid collectors use a range of cleaning implements that can remove dust, dirt and grime from any part of a collectible. A damp cloth, canned compressed air (which can be purchased from model or photography shops) or fine paint brushes are all part of the serious model collectors cleaning kit.

Great care must be taken when sprucing up your models as over eager cleaning may damage the delicate paintwork. It is not advisable to handle your resin collectibles on a regular basis as this can transfer dirt to your collection and cause wear, and some people choose to wear special soft gloves when cleaning or handling their collectibles. When moving or storing your collection away for a long period of time, it's recommended that the models are placed in their original boxes, or individually placed in bubble wrap and then put in an airtight, waterproof container, before being placed in a dark room.

Remember, these are general guidelines to caring for your collectibles. The handcrafted nature of resin collectibles means that each one is unique, which is what makes them so special, therefore it is imperative that you read and follow the 'cleaning and care' instructions provided with your specific model. As long as you look after your collectibles, you should find that your models remain in excellent condition and will give you many years or pleasure, as you build your collection.

Advice On Finding Hunting Binoculars

If you are a hunter, you have to have binoculars. Though your eyes may be good and your aim may be wonderful, there are still times when these come in very handy. You may be able to see what is nearby, but wouldn't it be great to see what might be coming your way long before it comes into the range of normal eye site?

My father is a hunter, and he won't go out into the woods without his hunting binoculars. Last year I bought him a new pair for Christmas because he had had the same pair forever, and he said he really appreciated the new and improved brand that we bought for him. You can buy hunting binoculars in all types of strength. Some magnify only 20 times, and some go much higher. It depends on where you hunt and what type of game you usually are looking for while out. If you hunt in an area that has a lot of hills and deep forest, you might not need something that is very strong, however, that is up to you. If you hunt in wide open spaces, you definitely want something that is super strong so you can see as far as you need to see.

They also make hunting binoculars that have a feature to keep them steady. If you have ever tried to look at something that is a long ways away by looking through hunting binoculars, you know that things can be quite shaky no matter how steady you try to hold them. There are some that come with protection from this type of shaking. They aren't perfect, but they can help you stay steady when you are searching far off into the distance. You can find hunting binoculars in outdoor and sports stores, and you can also find them online.

Though you can't try them out online, you may find better prices that way. You could even go to a store and see what you like, and then see if you can find a better price online. A good set of hunting binoculars is going to be expensive, so taking some time to find the best brand for the best price is always a great idea. Just be sure to find a company that has a return policy if you order online just incase they arrive broken or you don't get the model you ordered.

Wildlife in the Middle of the City

Metropolitan Natural Park:

The Metropolitan Natural Park, situated just outside of downtown Panama City, Panama, is known as the "lung of the city" and serves as a wonderful retreat for those interested in an easy escape from the neighboring city.

The Metropolitan Natural Park is the only park in Tropical Latin America that has a natural forest located within a metropolitan capital. The Metropolitan Park shelters plants and animals threatened by extinction. Furthermore, the MNP serves as an ideal laboratory for tropical research, for which it is often used by local universities and the Smithsonian Institute.

The park has three main trails, all of which are well maintained and easy to find. The longer and most popular trail is named "Sendero Cienequita." Another trail, beginning just across the street from the administrative office, is called "Sendero Momotides," a much shorter trail which offers no vistas. This relatively flat, oval shaped trail can be completed in around one hour. The "Sendero Los Caobos" starts from behind the administrative office and is similar to "Sendero Memotides," but it is longer in length and the terrain not as flat.

Summit Nature Park:

Located just twenty minutes outside of Panama City, Summit Nature Park in Panama is a center of recreation, education, conservation and investigation dedicated to enhancing the Panama tropical and cultural diversity. Summit Gardens provides visitors with an opportunity to view many interesting animal species found in Panama, as well as others native to the Central and South American region. It can be argued that as far as city zoos go, Summit Nature Park doesn't approach world class. The most cursory comparisons with, say, the zoological parks of San Diego, Detroit or Washington DC, would show how very far the park is yet to progress.

Summit's true grandeur becomes apparent when it is considered with regard to its flora. There is no arboretum anywhere with a better selection of palm trees. Summit's standing in the world of botanical gardens would be enhanced by a greenhouse or two that would allow the cultivation and display of exotic species that can't grow outdoors in the Panama's climate, but from the plant perspective the park is world class and has been since long before it came into the city's hands.

The UK's outdoor scene: a guide to safety and self protection

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are geographically distinct countries, each with its own variations in climate, terrain, natural water features and topographical peculiarities.

As such, this makes the UK the ideal place for the pursuit of outdoor activities, giving those with a love of energetic and adrenalin-charged activity every opportunity to indulge their passions. Likewise, those with a desire to try something new or dip their feet in so to speak can try their hand at a new sport.

Water, land and air-based activities are all available in the UK, with certain areas offering better conditions than others for the pursuit of specialised sports. Wales and Northern Ireland, for example, have coastal regions more suited to the pursuit of sea sports. England's Lake District is well suited to water sports such as sailing and windsurfing while areas of the Scottish highlands present good conditions for skiing in winter.

Many outdoor enthusiasts pursue their favourite activities independently, making use of their own skills and equipment, while those who are novices can take advantage of a large number of companies who offer adventure trips and holidays. Comprehensive Outdoor Holiday Coverage: http://www.travel-insurance-discounts.com/adventure_travel_insurance.htm

A single day of activity can be arranged or an entire vacation including a different activity each day; both are popular choices. Adventure companies provide all the equipment and know-how necessary for their customers, along with highly experienced staff trained to offer assistance at all levels.

A typical adventure holiday offers participants the chance to pursue outdoor sports such as abseiling, mountain biking, rock climbing and mountaineering as well as water sports such as canoeing and kayaking. Some of these activities can also be easily pursued alone without significant expense or the need for extensive technical knowledge, and indeed many UK residents follow them keenly as hobbies in their spare time.

Over the last few decades, amid the traditional outdoor activity scene, a selection of contemporary and trendy pursuits has become popular in the UK. The likes of bungee jumping, paint-balling, go-karting and ATV riding have gained considerable popularity and have become regular leisure time pursuits for some and one-off social events for others. The specific equipment and knowledge required for these activities generally precludes them from being pursued independently.

An element of danger is inherent in the majority of outdoor sports and activities, and this is actually part of the appeal for many who pursue them. Others accept the level of danger but expect the company they use to minimise their exposure to risk and take necessary steps to protect them. If engaging in independent activity, it is up to the individual to seek appropriate cover.

Stringent health and safety regulations in the UK mean that companies take the highest precautions to ensure that no ill befalls their customers. Accidents however are an inevitability of the outdoor scene and have the propensity to not only ruin your day or entire holiday, but also to leave you out of pocket.

Pursuing an outdoor sport either independently or with a certified company is best done with the safety net of a comprehensive travel insurance policy. Extreme Sports Insurance: http://www.vayago.com/

The right cover will ensure that you are reimbursed for any private medical expenses and for the loss or damage of valuable equipment.

While insurance used to be a costly affair, especially policies that covered dangerous activities, things have changed considerably. Now cover for anything from a day to a year is possible at prices that won't break the bank. To get an idea of how much a policy to suit your needs might cost, pay a visit to

www.travel-insurance-discounts.com/adventure_travel_insurance.htm, where you'll find a range of general travel insurance policies. Alternatively, check out www.vayago.com, where things are geared specifically to adventure holidaymakers.

Pro Cycling Jerseys: Cycling Clothing for Everyone

It is easy to categorize yourself into classes depending on your comfort, knowledge and physical characteristics. In fact, we do it almost unconsciously. Think about it. Are you small, medium, or large? Are you short or tall? Are you an athlete or a bookworm? Are you a casual drinker or full time party person? When we categorize ourselves in these ways, we immediately exclude ourselves from the things that are not associated with our class. Athletics is a great example. We may categorize ourselves as a casual bicyclist, a cycling enthusiast, or a competitive cyclist. Where many may think that the needs of these classes are different, they are actually quite the same. All cyclists benefit from the right equipment, proper training and a healthy dose of enthusiasm.

Whether you cycle competitively, for fitness, or just for personal pleasure, you should consider acquiring European styled custom and semi custom clothing from manufacturers like Santini. Original team issue apparel like long sleeve cycling jerseys that permit excess moisture to evaporate, cycling shorts and bib shorts that won't bunch up on you and cause irritation while cycling, and stylish cycling jackets work in these uniquely superior ways because they are custom team issue. Santini custom cycling clothing boasts smooth lines for maximum mobility, smart European designs that flatter the wearer, and high quality, easy to care for, wrinkle-resistant materials.

Maybe you are just about to start a new exercise program or have decided to ride your bike more often for fitness or to better the environment. Santini custom and semi custom cycling clothing and accessories can give your cycling confidence and motivation a much needed boost. The clothing, though specifically made for competitive cycling by experts, is also necessary for general cycling, road biking and mountain bike enthusiasts. The custom cycling apparel allows all wearers to exercise and compete without clothing becoming an impediment or restriction. The sleek designs of the long sleeve jersey, bib shorts, cycling shorts, windproof cycling jackets, cycling gloves and other cycling clothing will not create the ballooning and speed hampering that clothing not made to be worn while cycling often causes.

Original team issue Santini long sleeve jerseys, bib shorts and other cycling clothes are made for men and women in various styles and sizes. Whether petite or extra-large, the usability and benefits of owning custom cycling clothing will improve your cycling experience. The colors and styles available today are varied to allow individuality and comfort no matter what type of cyclist you may be.

Whether cycling is a new activity for you or if you have been competing for years, it is important that you consider your comfort and safety as it relates to your equipment and attire. Clothes that do not hug your body and move easily as you move can become a hazard. Clothes that do not conform to your body may get caught in your bike or get snagged on branches and bushes. Clothes that do not move easily with you can create irritation and make riding uncomfortable or impossible depending on the severity. It is important that one does not cut corners when it comes to these types of details.

Enjoy your cycling and other athletic activities to the fullest by taking the time and care to invest in equipment and apparel that will make it fun and exciting for months and years to come.

Whitetail deer hunting, an evergreen of the hunting family

Without a doubt the most popular out of all the deer hunting
categories, white tail deer hunting is one of North
America's favorite pastime, enjoying high popularity among the
young and the elderly. With well over thirty-six million whitetails and more
than twelve million hunters, whitetail deer hunting is flourishing with each
year that passes. This has led to numerous emerging locations where to hunt,
and even to tries of populating different new areas with whitetails.

Surprisingly enough, this particular form of hunting has a
century of history behind it and has only recently been popularized through
intense government and private organizations encouragements, unlike other
hunting branches that confront themselves with serious problems such as severe
restrictions from conservation ecologists or public organizations. However, in
some areas deer have grown in numbers in such a way that they are practically a
nuisance; vehicle collisions with deer are a serious problem in many parts of
the animal's range, especially at night and during rutting season, causing
injuries and fatalities among both deer and people. At high population
densities, farmers can suffer serious economic damage by deer depredation of
cash crops, especially in maize and orchards.

At a first glance, white tail hunting may not seem much
different from other similar genres but it does bring more than any other can,
hence its lasting popularity and appreciation. It is a practice that requires
all the primal things as any other hunting kind: patience, preparation and
strategy, but also necessitates a higher determination level because the
results often appear long after you would expect. For instance, deer calling
can take up to an hour and the results are not guaranteed. As a result, prior
to arming yourself with the appropriate rifle and scopes arm yourself with
steel patience and will to come home with a beautiful white-tailed buck. Apart
from these, preparation is a key element and should never be treated lightly as
it guarantees a successful hunting session, if done properly.

Although its complicatedness, white tail hunting pays off
through absolute excitement and thrill, and that is why so many people are drown
in to this sport. You can feel it just by picturing a deer finally showing up
after a long wait and getting within your range of a shot. Knowing that every
move you make can either lure the deer further or make it run away frightened, gasping
slowly and often so that you can keep your focus, staying attentive at nothing
except your target, these are true indicators of a tense and overwhelming
experience.

White tail deer hunting is sure to become even more popular
in the years to come through the numerous emerging locations, kind restrictions
and adequate attitude from public organizations towards hunting deer. The most
optimistic estimations predict that this practice will slowly but surely
capture more and more regions globally, and thus we can expect to be able to
hunt white-tailed deer from nearly every corner of the world.

Summary: The most
popular of all deer hunting activities, white tail deer hunting has found
enormous popularity in the last decades due to kind legislation and government
encouragements and is now a favorite of American hunters. It is more complex
and elaborate than most hunting genres and this actually makes so many people
practice it all over North America, which can
only mean that the future of both the species and the hunting activity are
guaranteed.

Pheasant hunting, a bridge from medieval to modern times

Ever since their first introduction in Europe
in the 10th century, pheasants have become a popular game bird
attracting hunters to engage in hunting them for centuries. Although many have
changed through the ages, the way we live, the way wee see life, and so on, our
delight of pheasant hunting has stayed untouched. We could say that it is a
timeless practice for the modern hunter and it would seem fair to suppose it
will continue to be for many years to come.

Pheasants are native to the Asian continent but have been
widely introduced elsewhere, where they are bred to be hunted and are shot in
huge numbers. The bird was brought to Britain around the 10th century but
became extinct in the early 17th century; it was reintroduced in the 1830s and
is now widely spread. Chronic reintroduction has made the pheasant an
exceptionally variable species in regard to size and plumage. Pheasants were
introduced in North America in 1913, and
they've become more popular for hunting, rather than for food, although many
hunting based restaurants serve pheasant meat.

Because pheasant hunting has proved to be an increasingly
popular practice in the last decades, pheasants are now raised intensively in
farms all over the United
States and the United Kingdom, mostly. Pheasant
farms meet about 10 million birds in the U.S.
and 35 million in the U.K.,
which is very impressing bearing in mind that the number increases with each
passing year. Birds are supplied both to hunting
preserves/estates and restaurants, with smaller numbers being available for
individual cooks. But eating pheasant meat can be unpleasant for some, as it is
tough and dry; modern cookery generally uses moist roasting or farm-raised
female birds.

Pheasant hunting is one of those sports in which the aid of
a hound is invaluable, and without which it would be almost impossible to make
a hunt. A well trained upland dog can be an important
tool for the pheasant enthusiast, but it requires just the right training to be
done. Unlike waterfowl hunters, a pheasant hunter doesn't have to start an
intensive training program but rather to focus on the crucial aspects such as
obedience, testing his natural instincts towards bird hunting or building up a
proper physical shape. Managing to stay away from useless, ineffective methods
and centering your attention only on these facets of training will prove very
important down the road.

Pheasant hunting is also a sport that
sometimes makes better sense if done alongside friends or simply other hunters
like you. Pheasants are well known for their ability to run swiftly and one generally
good strategy is to use "blockers", hunters stationed at the end of the
field who shoot as birds break from cover. Besides this, when hunting besides
fellow hunters, it is imperative that you wear an orange hunting vest because
it may become dangerous and safety should always be put first.

To cut a long story short, pheasant hunting may have its
roots back in medieval times but it's now more popular than ever before.
Although similar to other game bird hunts, it has features that differentiate
it from the others in the group, and that is why it appeals to so many people
worldwide.

Summary:
Given its many centuries of history, it comes to
no surprise that pheasant hunting is still a popular practice throughout the
world, many believing that its high
point is yet to be reached. Similar to other bird
hunts as it may seem, at a closer inspection pheasant hunting clearly stands
out as a self-governing sport because it enhances many aspects to the game bird
hunting genre.

Wild boar hunting a part of human history

Wild boar hunting has been around for thousands of years,
from the Persians' first attempt of slaying these creatures, but it has really
become known in the medieval times when royalty and rich people used to hunt
boars as a way of entertaining themselves and their guests. Over the years,
wild boar hunting hasn't lost any of its appeal and is now just as popular as
it was in Elizabethan England, almost five hundred years ago. So what is it
that makes hunting boars such timeless practice?

A likely explanation could lie in the fact that the boar is
a formidable opponent, which never can be brought down easily. Wild boar
hunting is neither for the faint of heart nor for solo hunters, because this
animal can prove to be a vicious fighter that never surrenders without a fight.
In spite of its aggressive nature, this omnivore is tranquil if not threatened,
and almost never deliberately attacks humans. The sole situation in which you
are strongly advised to stay as far as possible from a boar is when it has cubs
(piglets) and they are beside their mother. She will do anything to protect her
young from any danger they may be facing and that is why, the boar being
constantly a challenge and a threat, we are drown towards hunting it over and
over again.

Resembling more or less any other form of hunting, wild boar
hunting involves luring the unsuspecting creatures towards you and not having
to search for them yourself. One way to bait for them is to dig a hole of one or two feet depth and one
or two feet across, placing some bait in the bottom and cover it with a layer
of dirt. A different way to tempt boars is to use a 10-13 cm pipe that will be
cut into two or three foot pieces with caps on each end. These are low-cost and
efficient luring solutions which will make the whole hunting experience much
easier.

Choosing the appropriate spot to place your bait can be
delicate as the boars have excellently developed senses and will probably
detect your presence, thus making them suspicious of an easy meal. That is why
a baiting spot should be chosen someplace easy to get to, away from any bedding
areas and, if possible, right next to
trails, flounders and other often used areas. The location you choose is extremely
important to your success (even more important than the method used), above all
when there aren't that many boars around.

To put it briefly, wild boar hunting appears to stay with us
throughout the ages and it would seem to continue to be a part of our hunting
customs for years and years to come. Even though, hunting for boars has
radically changed its ways in comparison to the way it used to be done
centuries ago, it still maintains its essence and spirit, whether we comprehend
it or not. After all, the beauty of something rests in what the naked eye
cannot see and in what the mind can.

Summary:
No matter what times may have come and passed,
wild boar hunting has faithfully remained an important factor in the evolution
of mankind. Although it is quite a difficult sport, boar hunting is widely
practiced and appreciated all over the world, and the future is a promise of an
even greater expansion.

Rabbit hunting, a distinctive sport on the hunting landscape

Rabbit hunting is a practice spread all around the world due
to the range of habitats the rabbit has, allowing hunters worldwide to enjoy
hunting for them. Although it might seem like an easy task, compared maybe to
other types of hunting, rabbit hunting requires more accuracy, skills and
tactics than most others. Some may argue that a small, furry creature like the
rabbit can't possibly be any challenge for a fairly experienced hunter, but the
truth is these animals have some aces up their sleeves and do know how to use
them.

Furthermore, the rabbit's best and well-known weapon is its
agility, speed which is critical in its survival in the wild as well. Its
powerful back legs help the rabbit reach impressive velocity and you will often
be surprised as to how fast they can sprint when jumping through a bush you've
just come to close to. Another matter regarding their quickness is the fact
that they never run in a line, but prefer making a confusing array of movements
while running. But sometimes this strategy confuses them too and they end up
running in a complete circle, so being patient may lead to having an easy shot
instead of a tiring chase. In addition, they have pretty good stamina, which
means that they can keep running for a reasonably long time without slowing
down their pace at all.

An added thing that makes it difficult to successfully hunt
rabbits is their ability to camouflage their presence in many types of terrain.
They've adapted so that their fur matches the color of the inhabited territory
perfectly. Also, being rather small in size, they manage to escape unseen even
through thin bushes and other kind of cover, but usually do not wait for anyone
to get close to their hide-out and run energetically when they sense the
slightest sign of danger. That is why rabbit hunting should always be done in a
quiet and slow manner, but at the same time being conscientious and prepared.
This guides us to the rabbit's best form of defense, its highly developed
senses.

Surviving in such harsh environment and with so many
predators, has forced the small animal to develop not only remarkable speed and
camouflage abilities, but also exceptionally perceptive senses. The rabbit's
outer shell clearly indicates its keen sense of hearing, being able to hear
sounds from miles away, but the other senses are just as noteworthy. For
example, their sense of smell is so sharp that they can smell food that is
bellow the ground. Also, their eyesight is exceptionally accurate, especially
during the night time, in detecting predators from a long distance. Overall,
using these hyper-senses the rabbit can manage to escape predators and hunters
and many times even completely avoiding them.

All things considered, rabbit hunting is not a walk in the
park and requires higher attentiveness and skill for it to be a successful
experience. In other words, rabbit hunting distinguishes itself as an
independent and unique practice, due to the very few aspects that links it to
other hunting varieties.

Summary:
Contrary to common belief, rabbit hunting is not
a sport for everyone because it requires extra attentiveness, skill and
dexterity, in comparison to many other types of hunting. This is mainly because
of the incredible senses the rabbit possesses and its evasiveness, camouflage
and running aptitudes, which lets them escape hunters or even avoid them
totally.

Coyote hunting, a practice like no other

Thought to be one of the hunting branches with the most
success and popularity in North America,
coyote hunting is quickly and surely putting older and more famed types of
hunting into the shadow. A possible explanation would be our continuous search
to find new and exciting activities and leave behind or completely forget the
ones that we used to entertain ourselves with. Recent studies reveal that
hunters are drown to hunting these creatures because of the sheer complexity of
the entire hunting process, as well as the oasis of originality it is
considered to be amongst hunting genres.

If you are new to this sport then you aren't probably very
familiar with what it requires and the details that make it so special. First
of all, like any hunting branch, coyote hunting involves gathering as much
information as possible about these creatures. Understanding their habits,
their personality and the way they are most likely to react to certain factors
is the key to a successful and low-risk hunting experience. Coyotes have
excellent smell, vision and hearing which enable them to find food quickly and
to stay away from danger. Moreover, they are well-known for their evasiveness,
which can help them get closer to a target without being seen or heard, and
even to approach suburban areas unnoticed. Knowing these basics is vital to
your hunting success and even to your safety and should, under no circumstance,
be ignored.

After you have been familiarized to coyotes and their way of
life, you need to know everything about the hunting itself, its components,
their order and the way each of them can mean either success or failure on the
hunting field. The actual hunting process consists of a number of important
elements which have proven to be crucial factors for every hunt. Among these,
one of the most important is preparation, which amasses all the equipment
required for hunting coyote: firearms, loads, optics, etc, as well as other
spying gadgets. Another important element of coyote hunting is camouflage or
concealment, which can make the difference between a fruitful and a disappointing
hunting session. But perhaps the most important component of the whole process
is scouting, because you can't call a coyote if there isn't one there to be
called, can you? Last but certainly not least, the calling itself, which has to
be learnt very well, as well as knowing when to use a distress of a certain
kind.

The last point of discussion the beginner hunter must
remember is to have as much field practice as possible, grabbing every occasion
he meets to go on a hunt. It is very common for a learner to get disappointed
at first and frankly quite normal, but this is due to the lack of experience in
taking every opportunity you have at a coyote. Keep in mind that even the most
skilled and experienced hunters miss the target once in a while, so try not to
dwell on that for long. Perseverance is a key rule when fresh to coyote
hunting, as skill and self confidence can only come through repeated attempts
and often, letdowns.

All in all, coyote hunting is a thrilling and engaging
activity but it would be an irrationally risky idea to go on the field without
taking into consideration the above. Therefore, treat every aspect discussed in
the current article seriously and you will have only reasons to be happy and
rewarded afterwards.

Goose hunting, a sport for all seasons

Among the bird hunting genres, goose hunting occupies a
special place providing a real challenge to hunting enthusiasts fed up with
duck or pheasant hunting. Although hunting for geese is a popular practice in North America mainly, it is surprisingly bellow such
types of hunting as raccoon or deer hunting. But goose hunting does have its
fans, especially in the northern states of the U.S and Canada, and
they are not few. So what stops goose hunting from becoming a leader among the
hunting varieties of Americans?

One hint towards a relevant answer on the issue can be found
in the goose's anatomical structure. Even though it is a rather large creature,
it has a very small area of vulnerability or vital zone. This means that
shooting a goose anywhere outside that area will most often result in the
bird's escape. It is estimated that the area of vulnerability is only one tenth
of the bird's total size. As a result, you are forced to give your best shot
every time, and even that can't always get you the success you hope for. On the
other hand, luck is an important companion of any hunter and without it hunting
would be like a complicated surgery rather than a fun activity. Not knowing if
you're going to bring the goose down with the first shot, the second, the third
or at all results in an array of emotions gathered under one concept, thrill.

Calling is a fundamental component of a hunting process and
requires much practice before it can be mastered. But after you've managed to
fully understand how and when to use callers and decoys you will have an
eventful hunt every time. It is advisable that you have a variety of decoys of
different shapes, sizes and colors to use in every circumstance and a diverse
set of callers, for every situation. Knowing if a particular flock of geese is
susceptible to calling depends on the way the birds fly; if the geese are
flying low, breaking up in formation, gaining and then quickly losing altitude,
flying one direction and then changing direction, flying with a slow wing beet,
or simply towards your location, you should consider them callable and start
trying to decoy them in. If the birds are coming at you simply give them a
cluck or two to get their attention and let the decoys do the work. If the
above are not met then you shouldn't even bother to try and lure them as there
is a fair chance all of your signals will be ignored.

Goose hunting can prove more difficult to practice than
other types of hunting but the reword is well worth the effort. Few things can
match the nervous anxiety of placing a decoy and waiting for a goose to come,
as well as seeing as one of your shots brings down such a wonderful bird.
However, like almost every domain it requires much patience and practice before
becoming an expert at it. Until then, grab that gun, put on your hunting cap
and go have fun!

Summary:
Although very much behind other hunting
varieties, goose hunting has plenty of supporters on the North American
continent. It is thought that the reason why it is not as popular as it could
be is the difficulty of the entire process, as well as all the many aspects
that have to be considered.

Tai Chi Chuan - General Background

Philosophy:

The initial aim of Tai chi chuan is to teach the practitioners to relax. Relax does not mean to flop loosely around, but rather to use the body as efficiently as possible, with no muscular tension. The foremost requirement is good posture with relaxed shoulders, an upright back and firmly rooted stance. Tai chi chuan incorporates Chi kung exercises, which encourage deep breathing, improved blood circulation and greater efficiency of the body's systems. On a mental level, the quiet concentration, required for Tai chi chuan brings a serene state of mind, in which the everyday stresses of life can be placed in their proper perspective. This leads to a more tolerant, even state of mind, and a calm mind is able to respond more quickly and effectively to challenges in any situation.

In Practice:

At this level, the art is accessible to anyone. Age, health or infirmity is not barrier to reaping some of the rewards that Tai chi chuan has to offer. However, to reach the higher levels it is necessary to study the art in its wider context. Practising the martial aspects of Tai chi chuan involves more complex form of Chi kung, body strengthening, practising with another person and various supplementary exercises. Such training is more demanding than basic form practice, but it does bring greater benefits in terms of mental and physical health, as well as providing an excellent self-defence method. At the higher stages the theoretical aspects of the art also become more apparent.

As a martial art, Tai chi chuan works on a number of levels, but the principal aim is to teach practitioners to relax and become fluid in their movements. This allows for smoother actions and quicker response times. The objective is for self-defence to become a reflexive action rather than a repetition of technique. There is a variety of sensitivity exercises which allow the practitioner to adapt instantly to an opponent and to react in the most appropriate manner. Incoming force will, typically, be diverted, however slightly, and the corresponding opening in the opponent's defence exploited. The level of response can range from applying holds and locks, to immobilising an opponent, through to highly damaging strikes against nerve centres and acupuncture points (dim mak).

Power training consists of chi kung to develop internal strength, as well as methods to strengthen the tendons and ligaments. The ability to issue power (fa jing) from close range is a basic feature of Tai chi chuan. This involves incorporating the whole body into one unit behind an attack. Tai chi chuan includes punches, kicks, locks, open hand techniques and throws in its repertoire, as well as traditional Chinese weapons - sword, broadsword, staff and spear.

Today, while traditional practitioners of Tai chi chuan are still in evidence, the majority practise the art in order to both maintain and improve their health and to provide an increasingly necessary antidote to the stresses and strains of modern day life.

Iaido - General Background

Iaido is the art of drawing the sword and striking an armed opponent at lightning speed. It is the art of strategy, achieving precision in all aspects of mental and physical ability, including accurate footwork, balanced posture and critical timing. Live blades are razor-sharp and experienced practitioners are the only ones permitted to use them. The risk involved is thought to be worthwhile because this is the only way achieve the ultimate in awareness and concentration, and to unify the mind and the body together in total harmony.

Although Iaido may be classed as a separate martial art, it is closely related and complementary to Kendo. Kendo practice requires 2 people fencing each other armed with shinhai (bamboo swords) and wearing armour, whereas Iaido is practised on an individual basis wearing a gi, juban, hakama and obi. Practitioners use a real or an imitation sword, called an iaito. The aim of the exercise is to perform a set of movements (kata), in which the sword is drawn, an imaginary opponent is cut, and then the sword is resheathed. The ultimate purpose of Iaido, however, is to master the ability to overcome the enemy without the sword being drawn in the first place - in other words, to conquer the enemy "spiritually", with the sword still in the sheath, and so resolve problems without having to even resort to violence. There is one quote that explains this way of thinking: "The mind is not disturbed by the self being beaten up but by the self beating up others."

History:

Iaido derives from the ancient way of the Samurai warrior (bushi), and the forerunner of the art we know today, Iaijutsu, was used in earnest on the battlefield, whereas Iaido was designed to practise "the way of the sword".

Evidence suggests that the bokken used today in Iaido has been used as a weapon since around 400 AD. The bokken is a solid wooden stick with the same shape, weight and approximate length as a sword, and is usually made of red or white oak. Bokken technique was followed by the art of tachikaki (drawing the sword from its scabbard). The blade (tachi or katana), was long and straight and the Japanese warrior would carry it on his left side. A shorter blade was used for quick-draw techniques known as batto.
