Working with an injection moulded TPU instep stability arm, tightening the laces pulls the whole shoe firmly onto the foot, providing an exceptionally comfortable and secure fit.
Inside the shoes the feet are well supported by an anatomically moulded footbed to give exceptional cushioning in the heel and forefoot, whilst supporting the arches of the feet. The In-Board™ compression moulded EVA foot frame offers additional support, whilst cushioning is provided by the Merrell Air Cushion system present in all their off road shoes. Fitting higher up the foot than many of the Merrell shoes range, the Wrap Slam offers extra protection for the ankles, and feels sturdy and highly supportive, making it ideal for taking to the trail and for dealing with unstable terrain. Traction is maintained with Vibram sticky rubber outsoles with aggressive 4mm lugs, and the Chameleon Sport TC5 tread pattern which offers excellent grip in both the wet and dry, rivalling the popular Merrell Intercept.
The Merrell Chameleon Wrap Slam is one of the few models of fully vegan friendly footwear, using no animal products in the construction. The uppers are constructed from a highly breathable mesh with abrasion resistant strong synthetic fabric uppers for greater durability. For added protection in off-road environments, a rubber rand is sculpted around the entire perimeter of the shoe, reinforcing the seams to give a waterproof seal, with toe and heel bumpers for extra protection for the feet, which also aids traction when scrambling over rocks.
