You can take heaps of photos with your digital and not run out of space. If you do, simply download them to your computer to free up your memory card, erase them, or keep another memory card to pop in. So much easier than taking film out and putting another roll in. You don't even need to purchase a digital camera to have one. They can be incorporated into your mobile phone, PDA, vehicle and many other applications.
While the first digital cameras were quite big, they are now quite tiny. In fact since one will fit into a small mobile phone, they are tinier than that. In 1991, Kodak marketed a digital that retailed at $13,000. Today you can get one for less than $100.
