The US Tennis Open

The US Tennis Open sometimes gets confused with the Golf tournament since its also called the US Open. The US Open for the tennis sport is also known as the United States Open tennis championships. Its recognized as one of the oldest and largest tennis tournaments in the world. Each year the tournament lasts two weeks in the end of August and the beginning of September.

The Us Open started in 1881 where men only competed and it was only played by singles. Now it is known as one of the most popular tennis tournaments paying men and female in both singles and double competitions.

Through history, the court's surface has played on many different surfaces. From its start until 1974, it was played on grass and then it was played on clay from 1975-1977. Now it is played on a much faster surface called DecoTurf. Its known to be very fast paced with less friction and bounce rate.

Some of the big names to watch for in the US Open is Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Venus Williams, and Rafael Nadal.
