Carrera Sunglasses are owned and produced by the Italian fashion house Safilo. First launched in 1956 they started out as a sports orientated product particularly for motor racing, skiing and board sports. Indeed the name Carrera originates from the Carrera Panamericana road race that ran from 1950 to 55 through Mexico.
