Team Building Activities: Timing and Planning

Organizing a team building activity includes a thoughtful planning and complete preparation. Successful corporate events not only involve recognising essentials logistics and supplies for the exercise, but is also about understanding the importance of timing. It means finding answers for questions such as the number of hours allocated for a particular team-building activity, if it will be a daily exercise or taking place only twice or thrice in a week, is it flexible or not, and many such others.

How to Practice Timing?

Practicing timing for organizing a successful team activity requires careful thinking and clear understanding of requirements. If you want to sharpen your sense of timing, you need to participate in the team building exercises. Participating in exercises helps in accessing the time involved in each activity and completing a particular task. You can further learn how to divide time in different segments of the exercise to get the desired results.

Follow the Universal Rules:

To command on the art of timing, you can stick to some well-established timing rules. These universal rules include 5-15 minutes for debating issues, about 5 minutes for professional presentations, introduction for new players may take one minute, and for puzzle activities 15-20 minutes are allocated.

While organizing a workshop, you as an organizer can segregate time for different sections. Starting five minutes for introducing the theme and the activity, next 20 minutes for exercise followed by 10 minutes for results and conclusion.
